Yes, it is worth it (it won't always make a difference, but in most cases, it makes a big difference). If you are retired for medical disability, you will receive your pay immediately and will not have to wait until age 60. Your pay would be a percentage of your retired base pay (which is based on your active duty base pay). Also, you and your eligible dependents will be eligible for TriCare coverage.
