You will go through medical examiners and based off your documentation and your elaboration on those documents will better provide an accurate determination of your claimed illnesses/injuries.
Extensions are usually a formality while going through the MedBoard. The extensions are set at 1 year, but can be cut early once your MedBoard is complete. I was extended until December 2021 and I was able to retire this past April.

I checked with DFAS and i got the "it takes 30 days to process" speech and my claim was submitted on 25 June. SO DFAS confirmed I will received retro 1 Aug

So I'm not sure if this disqualifies you for further service with the Airforce, but each branch has different definitions of this specific codes.
