Besides government contracting. Something off the beaten path? Doesn't even have to be a job--a unique hobby, maybe?

I don't know about off the beaten path, but I chose to work for a major university and retired from that position almost 20 years ago. I also was in the Army 20+ AD years.

I spend much of my free time assisting other veterans.

I am also a saloon philosopher.

I worked for a logging company about 20 miles off the beaten path, but it went belly up, the railroad is not job anymore, tried for the VA but didnt make the cut, so stay at home day it is.
