Let’s say someone that is 100% percent DoD/VA over 20 years active, has a disability retirement, receives CRDP, has a reduction in VA compensation. With the reduction their DoD disability retirement pay is now more than VA compensation. I don’t need an actual calculation but how does that work?

Hello,

As a regular retirement retiree, the retiree would receive all their DoD retired pay (longevity computation) plus their VA compensation provided the VA comp is 50% or more. Retired pay in excess of the longevity is waived.

CRDP is now Concurrent Military Retired Pay and VA Disability Compensation. The concept of “restored retired pay” is gone for Career retirees.
