Can a DA 199 and appointment help?

I have applied for SSDI early August this year and my status is currently reviewing my medical portion. I know I gave SSA my narsum, profiles and reading here I made a right decision to give these to SSA. My 199 does state when I was unable to work but I chose my permanent profile date instead. Will it hurt or be a good idea to give them my 199 and my new MH appointments? Thanks.

That would seem to only impact your date of entitlement. The earlier date, if accurate as to date of unable to work, would seem to be the better option. Otherwise, if you are making a claim for a later date, you would be shorting yourself.

Thanks for the reply. I was doing a lot of research here and it seems the majority do say use the permanent profile date. I am well aware of the original onset date as of Aug 2014 but the permanent made me think is a solid on set date. A back pay would be nice but to give them the best date in my opinion was to use the permanent profile date. Also is this normal? I just received through mail these SSA-3380 for my wife, 3373 and 3369 forms? That these means I met the criteria for disability and they just want more information beside what they have?

From my experiences as an awardee of SSA SSDI federal disability compensation, the State Agency or Disability Determination Services (DDS) need to know all medical conditions which could potentially affect your ability to perform substantial gainful activity (SGA) and the SSA overall SSDI determination.

To that extent, the SSA's State Agency or DDS function is to perform an evaluation of medical disability (i.e., claimant is found disabled or not disabled under SSA rules) only for the SSA SSDI case if it meets all regulatory SSA SSDI qualifications.

As such, the SSA-3380-BK (Function Report - Adult - Third Party Form) for your wife, SSA-3373-BK (Function Report - Adult), and SSA-3369-BK (Work History Report) are additional required forms so that the State Agency or DDS can perform a comprehensive evaluation of medical disability. At this point, the DDS is trying to make a decision for meeting the SSA SSDI criteria while a determination has not been made in reference to any approval for SSA SSDI benefits.

With that all said, if a SSDI applicant potentially wants that "disabled" SSDI determination, it's in the applicant's BEST interest to thoroughly and accurately complete ALL requested SSA DDS documentation in a timely manner. Believe it or not, especially if the SSDI applicant identifies themselves as a "Wounded Warrior and/or veteran rated 100% P&T" eligible, the SSA DDS are trying to make a swiftly well-informed medical determination.

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

Usually how far are the medical evaluation from this stage if any? Also I'm under the wounded warrior program I hope? Thanks.

Routinely, the SSA State Agency or DDS would only schedule additional medical evaluations if they don't have ample medical evidence and/or medical documentation to make a final determination for the evaluation of medical disability.

I used my profile, since I applied within one year of the date on my profile, my claim was back dated to my date of injury. (The last day I was able to perform SGA for the Army)

Indeed, in addition...

To that extent, I originally used the date in which all of my official military duties as an "Army Director" were permanently reassigned due to my medical conditions; this date was prior to the approved official Army profile for acceptance into the DoD IDES process.

As such, to my surprise, the SSA backdated the SSDI application and decided to use my lumbar ALIF surgery date as the official SSDI onset date for the claimed "unable to work" to perform any SGA while in the U.S. Army.

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Thank you very much.
You are quite welcome, indeed! :)

Hopefully, all shall result in the receipt of a "disabled" SSA SSDI final determination! Take care!
