CRSC And SSDI confusion

It seems crazy that so many people are denied. Makes me wonder if people truly aren’t entitled, are underprepared, or if that is just the process.

In my mind, if the records match the blue book criteria and there is a statement the disability is not expected to improve, that should be sufficient.

My claim is around the same timeframe too, DDS decision since February. Are you being processed as a wounded warrior? Supposedly those go into an expedited batch.
As far as people getting denied, I think it is a combination of what you mentioned. In regard to my case being expedited, I'm not sure if it is actually being processed as expedited. My wounded warrior representative told me to specify in my application that I am a wounded warrior, which I did.

I think a lot of people assume that they will get SSDI because they are 100% disabled with the VA. From my understanding, SSDI is for individuals that are very limited in terms of working due to a medical condition.

Was sent a few documents from DDS a couple weeks ago to return:

SSA-3369 Work History Report, details 15 years work history PRIOR to disability.
SSA-3373 Function Report, basically activities of daily living.
SSA-3380 Third Party Function Report, mailed to my wife to complete.

Interestingly, these documents were received in the mail on a Friday with a return deadline of that Sunday. Was able to fax it, so hopefully it was received to them in time. A lot of this was information I'd filled out on other forms or preemptively turned in to SSA. From what I understand of the DDS approval process, it is five steps and these documents would be used to make a determination at steps four and five (these are sub-steps of step three, the decision phase on the SSA portal, and, to my knowledge, there is nothing on the tracker to indicate where you are in this process).

For those interested, the DDS decision steps are:

1. Are you working (for MEB/PEB/wounded warrior the answer may be no if you are no longer working in your assigned rating and pending medical retirement, even if paid)
2. Is your condition severe?
3. Is your condition found on the list of disabling impairments?
4. Can you do the work you did previously?
5. Can you do any other type of work?

Hoping receiving the forms are an indicator I'm close to a decision.

I had a similar situation in terms of receiving the documents. I received them 3 days before the suspense date. I ended up sending the documents via priority mail. That was almost a month ago. I submitted my SSDI application online in Dec 2021. I was already expecting it to take a year, so I'm not too concerned about how soon a decision will be made.

There are so many people applying that shouldn’t be is why it takes so long. I had a friend apply last year when she could no longer work (she had terminal cancer and was put on hospice). By the time her reply came she had already died.

Supposedly, your SSDI application can be expedited if you are an Air Force Wounded Warrior (AFW2). That's what my AFW2 representative told me.

I specified that I am an AFW2 on my SSDI application that I submitted online in Dec 2021. As of today, the Social Security website says my application is only 64% complete.
It sounds like your application is NOT complete. If that is the case go back online and finish the application.

My application was already completed. I guess I should have worded that better. It currently says on the Social Security website "We have processed 77% of your application".
