CRSC question

I don't need an estimate done right now, but had a quick question someone on here might have an answer to. With some of us there is time we split between active duty and reserve time before we leave the service. In my instance I will have 20 years and 7 months of total service and right at 14 years of active duty when I finally retire based on how things are looking with my PEB and terminal leave amounts. Is there a different way this is calculated or is the CRSC calculation only done off of active duty time?

Someone else can correct me if I am wrong. But when I completed my PEB in 2015 my retirement order had the calculation for Basic pay time and Disability retirement time.

In my case, it showed
Disability retirement: 17 year(s), 04 Months(s), 11 Day(s)
Basic Pay: 26 years(s), 00 months(s), 10 Day(s)

The disability time included all my active duty time and NG time combined. The Disability time is used to determine your Longevity retirement time Under Ch 61 medical retirement.

I hope this helps.

Perfect that's kind of what I was thinking since we don't earn as much as our active duty counterparts.

Total points divided by 360 or if you check your retirement orders as @michael.collins01 stated, it'll be computed for you right there :)

I was in a somewhat similar situation. From everything I’ve read and been told, CRSC (Combat-Related Special Compensation) is calculated only off active duty time, not total service time. The 14 years AD will be the key part for eligibility and compensation formulas. If you’re applying through your branch's HRC, they typically clarify that during the process. Might also be worth calling DFAS or checking with a VSO just to be sure your specific mix of service is handled correctly.

DFAS calculates it. You will be paid based on total time with your reserve time converted and added to your active time. Also it’s not a VA program so a VSO is not needed at all.

Well, unless you're reading the Financial Management Regulation, i.e., DoD 7000.14-R Volume 7B, Chapter 63, para 8.5.1.2, you're not reading the right things ;) Specifically, you need to key in on 10 USC 12733 which shows that it indeed is based on both Active AND Reserve component time, combined and divided by 360 as I mentioned above.
