Current Time Line A/D USMC

Another week of essentially no progess towards may cases it seems. Absolutely ridiculous
Sounds about right, same on my end.. I found and old post with the PEB's number so I might try calling next week

Got my fingers crossed for good news for at least one of us this week. I don't even want to call the PEBLO, its discourages me even more every time when he seems annoyed that I'm trying to plan a little advance before I make a big career change.

Also, I called the VA multiple times last week and finally got someone that was willing to email me my proposed findings. It took a few tries cause some of them know better but it was a big relief seeing a naval letter head with my name and social with some actual percentages and dollar amounts. Unfortunately it also says that there is no guarantee that's what ill actually get but it gave me some relief knowing that my case is making progress, slow progress is better than none I guess.

This is the email from my PEBLO that I received last week
"I hope this finds you well. Your case is still at the PEB pending fitness for duty determination. Currently, the PEB has no timelines because of the influx of cases they are receiving and a diminished staff due to PCS, retirements and unexpected losses. There are cases like yours that are well over 150 days. We are receiving findings for cases that were submitted the last week of April and first week of May. I will keep you posted if I hear any new updates. Sorry it wasn't better news. Have a great day!"

405 Days in IDES and 143 days at the PEB. Still waiting for findings.

That's good to hear, like I said, slow progress is better than no progress. I cant hate on them too much because where I work now is understaffed and overworked. My case was submitted on April 7th and I'm hoping to hear back by the end of this month. I'm trying to be realistic with it, I understand there are a lot of cases and there aren't enough people. It does suck however though that there is no certainty at all with this, when I submitted in May, I was told around Aug I should be signing my findings, then in Aug they said prepare for Sept, so on and so on. The uncertainty that ruins job offers, splits families up and adds more stress to the service member is a huge issue but unfortunately i don't see a end to this mess any time soon. Im at like 150 something in PEB @JoeUSMC, It looks like the 160-180 day is when people have been getting their stuff back.

Did you just say you never got it mailed to you?

Did you just say you never got it mailed to you?
I think it's pretty common for it not to get mailed out even though it says it does. I had to call to get them to send me my proposed ratings and from what I've read 90% of everybody else had to as well.

Did you just say you never got it mailed to you?
Yup I read to do it on here, basically don’t mention you’re in the PEB, just say your decision letter was sent but you never got it, the people that answer are just like general VA people, not all of them know about the PEB. Just may take a couple tries to get someone who doesn’t know what they are doin. Also I’d have it sent to your personal email cause I couldn’t open it on my .mil email

I too was accepted into the PEB May 03. Starter the process in Nov of 2020. Found this place looking for answers, but not the ones I was wanting to hear. I have had to enroll and disenroll into college 2x now due to this taking so long. Its extremely frustrating that we cannot properly plan for a transition as if were EAS'ing or a regular retirement. I am now scheduled to start school in Nov locally. I went ahead and put in a PTAD request to begin next month, but I am not holding my breath on that. Meanwhile its OK for other people to do a skill bridge 6 months early.

What frustrates me the most is the lack of updates, and how annoyed the IDES people seem when you ask for one. Ive been getting told to prepare to get out since July. I know my package has been sitting with the line officer for over a month, what I dont get is why it is taking so long to come up with a determination. Mine is a pretty clear cut easy case. I developed lung disease that is incurable and untreatable. I could be trying to do something with the rest of my life instead of coming to work to do nothing and just play on facebook. Worst part, is that I could have just submitted my appendix J last month. Im over 19 years in. Ive been on 2 month extensions the past 8 months, and will need another one in 7 days that my command is dragging their feet on. So every 2 months for 8 months new ID, new computer acess, new gate access, etc. I am so frustrated with this process. I should have transferred to WWB but I didnt want to gap my billet. Thats what I get I guess for still caring then.

We all know the frustration, Im sorry youre situation isn't getting any better. It sucks but we all just have to make do. Are you going the TERA route? Also have you looked into doing college through VR&E to save your education benefits until you really want to use them? Feel free to message me if you would like to get a bit in depth or just reply to my post. I got lucky with fighting to get on a Skillbridge and proving that nothing could stop me from doing it. No one really fought it but no one helped me either. It took me 3 months and almost missed out on the opportunity. Hell I didnt even get HQMC approval until about 2 weeks into the course but the skillbridge coordinator helped me out.

You developed feelings for a place that doesn't give two shits about you. I can imagine it's a side effect of having been in so long.

Hopefully you get yours soon. April 26th Submission here,
Just got a call yesterday that I was found unfit, I sign my findings later this week when my PEBLO has the paper in hands.

I am going the TERA rt, and I looked into VR&E and surprisingly enough they didnt have a program that falls in line with what I am wanting to do. I am enrolled into a premier fabrication and welding secondary college for off road fabrication. So building from scratch bumpers, suspensions, cages, etc. I had to basically try out for the college as they dont allow just anyone to attend, and they only graduate about 50 people a year. It is very competitive with a 98% job placement program for life. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me as come this summer my timelines will drastically change once my fiancé receives PCS orders.

I don't know if this is still helpful for you, but have you looked into the JTEST-AI? Basically, it's skillbridge but an internship with any company that is willing. I too don't see my desired job as a VR&E nor in a regular skillbridge, but after many emails to the skillbridge director up in HQMC it basically boils down to commanders discretion in situations like ours. Feel free to DM if you want more specifics!

Ill look into it if I dont get approved to start school. Although, honestly if they dont approve school, the likely hood of them approving anything else is slim as well. Im just going to have to see what happens and ride it out. A lot of people from April and May have been getting their findings back recently according to FB, we will see.

They really have no reason not to, my command tried to not help me and ignore the process but they cant keep marines from working towards their future.

Their reason would be spite. And that is all they need. I would of course request MAST, and file a congressional inquiry. There is a bit more to my history here. I was wrongfully accused of Assault and after a year long NCIS investigation I was acquitted and everything was dropped. I dont think certain members in my command were happy about that.
