I had to keep bugging my PEBLO and I finally got an answer, "A premliminary determination has been made finding you PTSD unfitting. I hope that is good and not much longer. I know the ebenefits thing is not up-to-date but it is in the pending decision approval, rating phase.

Good for you, do you know what your GAF is for the PTSD?

That is a 50% TDRL/ 50% VA rating guaranteed

Thanks grizz13, I was happy to finally get some kind of information from my PEBLO. It is like pulling teeth to get any information out of him. I hope it will be over soon it has been a long ride

Just so you know it isn't all based off of your gaf score, they look at if its stabilized and more medical evidence. My gaf is 45 and I received 70% for PTSD alone and pdrl because mine has stabilized

I sure dont want the TDRL, just another way for them to keep babysitting us. Just ready for them to let us go, we have done our time and our country to the fullest, time to transition to the families that have waited on us for so long. God Bless.

Well finally got back the inquiry that I submitted to the VA, it reads "We received your claim on February 20, 2012, Our records indicate a preliminary rating was completed on November 3, 2012. The rating will be forwarded to the PEB. Once you complete your PEB hearing, the PEB board will make a determination as to whether or not you are fit for duty, or should be medically discharged due to your disabilities. If you are medically discharged, VA will be notified, and we will begin the process of completing your claim beginning one day after your date of discharge." How long does it take for the PEB to say that you are unfit after they receive it back from the VA? which iI know I am or they would not have sent it to VA.

This is my time line.
Deployed 5 times, 4 active duty, 1 reserve. returned from last deployment in Feb. 08. did the post deployment health assesement, answered truthly doctor wrote on form PTSD, nothing done.
P2 psych 09 by periodic health assesment.
p3 psych 10, by periodic health assesment, unit did not do anything, profile read needs MEB.They wanted me to lie by not saying anything about the medication I was on at the time. I went past unit and battilion to get it started. A SSG up in Brigade helped me out.
Did another periodic health assesment in Feb. 11, P3 on psych. The SSG sent me the paperwork to get started.
I got LOD signed and approved, which I went to psych doctor while deployed, and my commander signed commander statement.
MEB/VA appointments- march 3-6 2012
Narsum signed- August 26, 2012
got response from PEBLO about premliminary determination of unfit
then received inquiry from VA Nov 9th 2012 about preliminary rating completed on November 3, 2012.
How much longer????

Well, you were already deemed unfit as you already know... It just means your PEBLO failed to give you that notification memo like they were supposed to.

PEB should "receive" packet in the first week of Dec.
They will apply the ratings to your unfit conditions and review (2 weeks or less)
They send the packet to the DA 199 writer (if on JBLM they hold for 2-3 weeks because they only have 1 writer last I heard)
Writer sends to MEB office, then goes to the designated PEBLO to counsel you.
You will get a call for the counseling appointment setup either the day they get it or the following Monday.
Follow on info is in my signature block that goes over what happens after signing the 199...

More or less you have about 5ish months left (including leave time)

Thanks grizz13 for the info, I was hoping sooner but I have made it this far, It is driving me more nuts than what I am.
I do see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks for this information too grizz13. I just got a copy of my unfit/fit memo that was dated Nov 3rd. I was told my packet went to the VA on Nov 5th. I was wondering how long it would take to get out of here, but now I know to be more patient. I spoke to my Peblo today and he said that it would be ok to take block leave. He pretty much said nothing is going to happen between now and the first of the year. I just work on my schooling and I will probably have my bachelor's before I leave here at this rate....

i think we are all just waiting on the peb if your packet came back already from the VA.

Mine was forwarded on 1 Oct 2012 and still nothing back from the PEB. So i agree i will be lucky to see anything between now and 1 Jan. I already know my preliminarys, but have to wait to see it on the 199 which i was told only takes 1-2 weeks since it is now automated, so maybe they forgot to push the button, i dont know but definately is not 2 weeks.

smacinnes40 how did you get to know your preliminarys and not to sound stupid...what is preliminarys???

Preliminary ratings are the rating the VA sends the PEB for your 199, they are not finalized or can't be while on Active Duty because you are not considered a Veteran yet by the VA. The day you ETS, you are considered a Veteran. The VA will then finalize your ratings once they receive your DD214. Hope this clears it up for you!!!

So can I find that out before they send it to the PEB or do I have to wait? If I can, how can I find out what my preliminary rating is? I also have another friend going through the same thing as I (no info from peblo) and this sight has been a lifesaver. I saw on ebenifits that I have a POA at the VA already, didn't know how that happened? Do I call the VA in WA or here in California where I am stationed? Sorry for so many questions, just trying to be proactive.

rham805, basically what grizz13 said, its the proposed ratings, nothing finalized. That is why it would be nice to see the 199 to ensure the information is correct. I got the information by calling the VA number toll free number. It really depends who you get on the line, some reps are willing to help out and provide you information and even mail it out or faxed it to you. Some wont even bother telling you what the propose ratings are. Good luck

I just emailed my PEBLO and she emailed me back my proposed ratings, you could try that. The peblos (at least here at jblm) are not supposed to tell you the prelims but if your nice they will. I guess it all depends on your PEBLO too
