Good morning to all!! This is going to be lengthy, but I feel it will benefit others that are going through the process.

I was initially referred for a MED regarding Mental Health on September 29, 2023. This is when I went up to the Hospital to pick up my initial paperwork. RADIO SILENCE for about a solid month. I got a call from my PEBLO explaining that the docs were still looking at my stuff and possibly adding more stuff. So, at this point my MEB was not approved to go through the first portion which is all the ADMIN/VA/LEGAL and all the Jazz.

November 6th, 2023: Referral date signed off and approved for MEB to start. Conditions: Anxiety Disorder, unspecified, other problems related to employment, my intervertebral disc displacement: lumbar, thoracic, cervical region and thoracolumbar region. SIX TOTAL.

November 13th, 2023: Call from PEBLO followed with an email that everything was a go to start.

November 27th, 2023: Legal Brief

Middle of December leading to January 2nd, 2024: All my VA Exams were completed. I was able to see all my exams pretty quickly after, which were uploaded on TOL.

RADIO SILENCE from January 3rd, all the way to February 23rd, 2024. This is when my C&P Certification dates posted on LIMDU SMART.

NOTE: It was during this time, that my PEBLO was no help at all. She wasn't the best at returning calls. I never really expected much from my PEBLO because they are all hit or miss. Thankfully, I had a really good DES Counsel, This FORUM and another forum on Facebook. “I also found about LIMDU smart during this month and a half of wait time, you need the exact website and has to be on a GOVT Computer, or you will be unable to see anything. https://edq.med.navy.mil. NOTE: I think only Navy can access this, but I pretty much was able to track the first portion of my case once I found out about this site. So, I really didn't need my PEBLO, because I was able to see my NARSUM, C&P and so on.

February 26th 2024: MEB-2/MEEBA agrees with with C&P results and does not add any other unfitting conditions.

February 28th, 2024: Physc agrees with all MH notes and C&P.

March 1st, 2024. Get a call from PEBLO and she reports that NARSUM is complete. Generally, 5 days to go over it and make sure it reads write and time to sit down with my DES Counsel to make sure I agree.

March 5th, 2024: Met with my DES Counsel and she was very thorough going over everything line item for line item. She gave me her honest opinion.

March 6-8, 2024: Finished tweaking my Personal Impact Statement and had my DES Counsel read as well.

I signed my NARSUM on March 8th.

March 11th, 2024: Convening Authority signs off and sent to the PEB for Fitness for Naval Service Determination. PEBLO also sent an email on what to expect next. She told me not to really expect to hear anything back until 120 days!!! Which would have put me at July time frame.

Once your package gets sent to the PEB: THIS IS WHERE YOU NEED TO STAY ALERT!!! Don't just sit around. I think 3 weeks went by and I popped back on here just to check the forum and I had mentioned how my MEB/PEB was going and the 120-day mark came up. I was told TAKE THAT WITH A GRAIN OF SALT!!! Which I did. I looked at my VA APP and there was traction.

April 5th, 2024: VA CLAIM CLOSED!!! At this point I am thinking UNFIT. I called my VA Benefits advisor and updated her. From everything I told her she agreed, and SHE WAS RIGHT!!!

April 15th, 2024: I got a package in the mail from the VA and said they were working on my claim. I called my MSC REP and said its nothing and we got some time before we hear anything back. On that same day I got in touch with DES Counsel, she said the same thing!!! We still got some time..............

APRIL 17th 2024: Random call from my PEBLO!!!! FINDINGS ARE IN!!! UNFIT 90% DOD/100% VA (proposed) also recommended PDRL.

Completely shell shocked at that exact moment. I still am and have not let it really sink in because my case from what I was told was.

I met with my DES Counsel on April 23rd and signed my Election of Options on April 24th.

I received an email from my PEBLO on that same day on what to expect next. She is saying anywhere from 4-5 weeks for my retirement message from PERS but could be sooner!!!

I am expecting way sooner, from what my Wounded Warrior Rep he said 10 days or sooner from the day you sign and then usually you’re looking at 45 days after that for retirement.

NOTE: Wounded Warrior is freaking awesome!!! It should be MANDATORY for everyone going through IDES to be enrolled because they shed so much clarity and light to your situation. Also, there is a WWP: Wounded Warrior Project, don’t mistake the two. I DID!!! Thought I was enrolled to Wounded Warrior...

I know this is a very lengthy post but I guess that’s what 20 years of active duty will do to you. I like to be very detailed because they tell you day one: PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL.

I am going to make another post on here about my lessons learned.

Please, feel free to reach out and ask any questions. Send me a PM if you would like. I want to help as many folks as I can because YOURE NOT IN THIS ALONE!!! We can all learn from each other which is what I have done for the last two years since I registered on this forum.

Thank you and GOD BLESS!!!!

Congratulations on your well deserved ratings! I second that Wounded Warrior is amazing.

Yes! The rep I have been sitting down with has been amazing! Told me the unknown things that they don’t tell you in TAPS.

Thank you!! It’s been a very draining process mentally! But it seemed to pay off! I’m very fortunate, and blessed to have gotten the findings I did. But I would like to think I put the work in, putting in 20 years of active duty. Just unfortunate how it all really played out but believe it has been for the best.

hopefully the retirement message comes quick! So I can close this last chapter

I called WWB East on Lejeune. Turns out Marines on medboards are supposed to be reached out to, and my name got put on a roster but no one ever reached out.

I'm not kidding when I say I would have never reached out to them if it weren't for this post. The lady that is sending me resources also told me she will try to get a hold of exactly where my case is when she speaks to her supervisor that gets rosters every week.

I honestly don't care if I'm just told info that I've figured out myself. It's just nice to see that give a shit factor from someone that isn't a veteran resource. I love the VA and its many resources but hearing "Am I speaking with the veteran?" every week starts to bite at me.

Yeahhh I definitely understand with the VA and am I speaking with a Veteran!!! Honestly, from what my benefits advisor told me “technically” VA can’t really touch/claim you fully until your last day of active duty and you wake up the next day! Pretty much DD214 in hand and fax it into the VA to get your final claim closed out to see your letter!

As far as wounded warrior goes, they are awesome and really a giant sleep that not a lot of people reach out. At least on my side of the water.
