Have PEB or retire?

Hi. I am looking for some information for a service member. The service member has served for 22 years and has been diagnosed with PTSD, depression and other physical injuries. He has been referred to the MEB. He is wondering if he should retire or go through the MEB process. If he goes through the MEB process and gets a rating will he recieve different benefits and pay compared to if he retired now?

Thanks

If the member thinks he will get a rating better than the 55% the member will already get for retiring, then he/she should go ahead with the MEB. The benefits will be the same whether the member retires or goes through the MEB process. Also he/she should be eligible to receive CRDP or CRSC (if the injuries are combat related) based on the VA rating.

I concur...

There is no downside of doing a MEB after 20 years service, unless of course you want to stay in longer...
