Hello,

If you are referred for a unfit condition, and you claim another unfitting condition that is not the referred condition, and it is deferred, what mechanism do you have to get it rated so it can be added as unfit?

Thanks for any insight.

The only mechanism to add an unfitting condition after it starts is via FPEB. There are other stages where it can be added but you don't get a say in that. So for example if the NARSUM docs see another condition not referred and believe its unfitting they can change it and state unfitting in NARSUM and issue a P3 profile. However, the iPEB doesn't have to adhere to the NARSUM though they typically do.

If there is an other condition you want to add make sure to work on gathering evidence now. Make sure to appeal at every step that has that condition not listed at unfitting which is typically the NARSUM. You can do a rebuttal and or IMR. Check your commander's impact statement to see if that condition is mentioned. If not, ask your leadership if they can revise your commander's impact statement to include how that condition affect your duties. Do you have a profile for that condition? If not, see if your doc can write one up even if the limitations are severe. Everything add up to help you with your case at the FPEB.
