I medically retired this year and I don't show a 1099R or W2 for my retiree account. I do have a W2 for my reserve service this last year.

My orders show: Retirement is due to a disability incurred in the line of duty in a combat zone or as a result of performing combat related operations.

I guess I need to call DFAS and figure out what they've done?

could be 2 reasons. If your VA pay completely offsets your chapter 61 retirement then you would have no taxable income. 2nd reason is if you had one or more condition combat related because that would make your chapter 61 pension exempt from federal income taxes.

I got my first yearly RAS in the mail. It explained my situation.
No taxes for life is HUGE! I don't think people understand how important that is. No matter what the future holds regarding tax rates your compensation will never be affected!!!

No doubt! Tax-free income is a game-changer. Lower taxable income now and more savings for the future is a huge win! Having Tricare for the family in retirement has also been a blessing.
