My Timeline, Near 20 years.

I have had good news, my PLD got command endorsement and was submitted via PERS-454 and with this request going up I got an extension to take me past my 20 year anniversary on 10JUN2023.

Congratulations.

I called the VA today and they said that they can't look up to see where the VARR is at  This is worse than waiting for IPEB ratings
I'm in the same waiting game like you my file was sent to the VA for Rating by the DOD in the beginning of March and there is nobody who can provide me with the status cannot even check it at the VA.gov website. after November i will have a total of 19 yr 5 months and 31 days. if that happen i will fight to get my regular retirement.

is your rating change pretty straight forward? I'm hoping mine goes quick because I went up without a diagnosis and now I have one (with a letter from my specialist stating it)

Which ever comes first right now my hand injury was found in the Line Of Duty by HRC so that's why my file was sent to the VA for Rating because all i have is 20% DOD but now the my hand was found in the Line Of Duty i can qualify for Disability Retirement I'm at 70% VA right now. i had to surgeries on my hand already and all it did was get worse i cannot do my ACFT and Weapons Qualification because i cannot hold anything in my hand that is heavy or put's pressure in my hand they had to cut my ulna and put a permanent plate with 6 screws. This year was the first time in my military career that i could not qualify with my weapon and perform the ACFT.

Hello @shankatorus and @Kendy26

Earlier, Kendy26 mentioned: “Thank you for the great information I'm a Army Reservist who just recently had my Formal PEB hearing I was already found unfit for my conditions but what I want is service connection because my unit submit...”

1. Non-regular retirement (aka reserve / NG retirement) = 20 good years and receives retirement pay when they meet the age requirement for non-regular retirement.

2. Regular retirement = 20 or more active duty years. Receives retirement pay immediately.

Ron

Thank you for sharing this info, did you request a formal board because of your 50% rating or to but time to hit your 20 year mark? I am currently going through a re-review myself and they dropped my dod form 70 to 50 but I have served over 20 as well.

I did it to buy some time to ensure I got to 20. Had no intention of actually going to the board exactly due to what they did to you. My command was supportive of PLD if i needed it but that’s not a guarantee. At least we’re over 20, thats the biggest thing for CRDP.

Hi- What is the difference between a IPEB and a FPEB?
iPEB is informal and is final if you accept findings from them. FPEB is an appeal of the iPEB. You don't get to FPEB unless you are appealing to add unfitting conditions or to add a combat related designation of an unfit condition or if arguing that a condition should be fit because you are trying to be stay in. If you agree with the unfit conditions but disagree with the % you don't appeal to a FPEB. You request a VARR and the VA will reconsider its ratings for that unfit condition. The DOD uses the VA's % when applying those percentages to an unfit condition.
