No HHG move scheduled, retirement day coming up

what happens if retirement day comes but the HHG movers can’t come until after the date? Does the navy say adios? Do they extend your day to keep paying BAH?

Trying to get ahead of this before I get there.

Trans should accept a letter (from command) in lieu of orders to schedule a date. They don’t like it, but it is their rules.
I was told by my admin that the approval for an LOI would come from the same people who issue my orders and therefore it would be pointless to ask for it.

Hello @chaplaincharlie

Thank you for your important post.

That is a logical / sensible way to handle situations such those discussed in the HHG thread.

I have to wonder, where are all the senior NCOs in this saga? I always felt it was my responsibility help the more junior members survive the roadblocks that pop up.

Comment/Opinion:

Decades ago, I remember a sergeant major stating that senior NCOs represent the officers above him/her in rank. Example: A division CSM could be more influential than one at the battalion level. They support the command authority of commissioned officers. As the Secretary of the Army's representatives, NCOs carry out the orders of Commander-in-Chief through the chain of command. In carrying out orders, NCOs provide support, assistance, and advice to officers. The same basically holds true for the junior enlisted too.

Ron,

I agree, but would add the officers in the chain also. Rarely was I told a flat no and that did not usually end well. Our members are our #1 asset, not ships tanks, airplanes, .... When war fighting equipment will not run we don't think kicking it will help. I'm amazed at SNCOs and Officers that don't understand that people make the mission happen.

I’ve gone to the XO about it. I’ve been told that I should get them before my retirement day comes and that is good enough for them. However, it ignores that Personal Property says there is a 5 week delay in getting movers to your home. For some reason, no one can comprehend this when I tell them.

I have written my congressman over the weekend. I cannot wait any longer for people in my chain to start actually listening.
