On going MEB, but DOS is soon

Hello, I have some questions about my MEB. I had been diagnosed with chronic migraines back st my last duty location over seas, around 2021. For whatever reason, my PCM did not start a med eval then, but had me go to the neurologist at the Navy hospital. (I became pregnant during this time and she PCSed.)

Fastforeward to April 2023, we PCSed back to the States. I immediately followed up with my new PCM to continue my treatments for migraines, and was informed that I should have been MEB then. We started the process, but I became pregnant with my 2nd little one, so again treatments had to be delayed until after baby was born. I followed up as quickly as I could. I had an MRI in March, and I started new medications as my symptoms were worse. My PCM had a telephone consult with me this last April, and I met with my CC early May with her reccomendation to "not retain" on the paperwork she sent up to AFPC.

Now it's nearly July, and I haven't heard diddly squat. I called my PCM this monring, and they said its still pending in ASIMS. While I understand this will take a while, my DOS is about 90 days. I had an unoffical talk with the PEBLO and PVM, and both said I will probably be extended out past my DOS.

But how long can they continue to play this game? The ball was dropped back in '21 when they probably should have started the process. Forgive me for sounding upset, but I have a family too, and now we can't arrange new housing.

What I am trying to find out thisnhow mucj longer will it be until I get an answer, and how much longer do I have⁸ to stay in now?

Katlady1993:

Request an official meeting with your company and battalion commander and address DOS, extension procedures, and profile. Go to your separation section and have an official discussion about leave, TAP if you haven't attended, and DOS extension. You want a piece of mind knowing you have a plan beyond DOS date. Having to input family members back in DEERS and restarting pay can be troublesome. Email and call your PCM to reinforce profile and duty limitations. Get as much as you can in writing to support your case. I think you will be OK but follow up with leadership, medical team, and separation section.

I'm waiting for my CIS as well before documents are sent to AFPC. My IRILO started back in November 2023, after waiting 8 MONTHS.... I received my NARSUM which is actually unforgivable. From what I heard after speaking with the PEBLO, the military will put you on med hold until your MEB is completed. Now if you were in a rush to get out you can take the legacy route and get out earlier to make your claims while your out of the military but that also comes with far longer timelines in getting your benefits. For me it's worthwhile to wait the extra time to let everything get processed while I'm still AD.
