PEB Timeline Help Needed

Hi everyone,

I am going through a med board (OCONUS). I completed all of my exams and received my NARSUM. The attorney and I reviewed the NARSUM, which was unfit for duty. I signed and returned the page stating that I concur with the findings.

Now is where I am a bit confused so please forgive me. I am trying to learn as much as I can. So, they said the packet will be sent to the PEB for ratings? I am assuming they mean to the VA for temporary ratings?

I saw some people saying online to check the app? What app are you guys able to see the status of your med board?

How long should I expect to stay in this phase for? Is there anything I can do to "speed up" the process. My mental health is not good at all being in the Army. Am I close to the finish line? NARSUM was signed and sent like 2 weeks ago.

Mine was signed and sent 2 days ago too. The PEB has to find you unfit for the VA to rate it. I’m still waiting for the unfit rating too. It’s supposed to take 11 days but they’re saying it’s backed up rn. Someone told me it took them 88 days to get their unfit ruling
 
They found me unfit, according to the NARSUM, which I agreed with. Are you saying someone else has to find me unfit as well? If so, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

are you Air Force? If so then your packet got sent to the VA for proposed ratings because I’m aware the Air Force signs their NARSUM first before exams or what not. If you’re army, when you complete your exams, they get sent to the PEB for a fit for duty determination then sent off to the VA for ratings

I apologize, I should have clarified, I am active duty Army.

You’re good brother. So here’s what happens. You get your NARSUM, it can say that you’re unfit for duty on the NARSUM however it still needs to be sent to San Antonio IPEB for official unfit determination. They’re all backed up right now according to what I can find out. People I know are waiting about 60-90 days for that official unfit memo. I know. Stupid. They should just sign it since it’s obviously unfit. Now when they submit your unfit determination, it goes to the VA and SHOULD (fingers crossed) take 2-3 weeks to be rated THEN sent back to the PEB for final signatures. If you agree to the DOD and VA ratings you sign your DA199, get called a couple days later to set your NLT date and start clearing. This is all based off the anxious research and questioning I do everyday because I want to be out like YESTERDAY. I signed my NARSUM 1/14/25 were probably about in the same boat, your MSC can tell you if the PEB has submitted your fit for duty determination

I really appreciate all of this. The med board process is a lot to learn. If you signed yours on 01/14/25, then you and I are basically identical. Since signing, it has been radio silent, which I expected from my PEBLO. I just didn't get much guidance of what to expect after and then started reading on this forum and got a little confused. Seems fitting that you can be found unfit, and then need an official unfit memo lol only those who have served truly understand the pain and absurdity. There's no number or anything we can call to get that unfit memo sped up? My mental health suffers greatly everyday. This whole process cannot go fast enough. Appreciate the insight and I wish you all the best on your process as well. Praying the unfit determination comes back soon for both of us.

Hey bro I hear you. The depression and anxiety of being here is real shit. People don’t realize it but in the MEB process the anxiety is thru the roof for many of us too. Just keep strong bro and stay distracted. I’ve been cleaning and playing video games a lot. Sometimes it helps but every day you get through is another day closer to freedom. I have a pretty good PEBLO however it is still radio silence rn. He told me that he doesn’t reach back out till he gets the DA199 so it’s gonna be a while. But trust me I know how brutal all of this is, if you wanna chat or need to ask me more questions my username on Reddit is the same and I’m willing to help out.
