Does anyone know when the new/proposed effective rating changes to popular conditions are effective? I know of that Sleep Apnea is a bit harder to get and Tinnitus went away, but PTSD is more favorable to get a higher rating.

They’re just proposals for now. Many of these have been proposed for years and juts get kicked down the road further. Once they set an actual date we’ll know more information. As of now the date is unknown (if it will ever even go into effect).

But I will say, for the past year or two, people have said they think the mental health will be favorable based on how it will now use 5 domains. But what I've been saying from the very beginning is we all don't know how the VA will actually rate/score each domain. Everyone thinks it'll be easier to get a 100% MH rating but I personally just can't see the government making it easier for people to get high ratings and paying out more money. Especially since they are making these proposed changes to reduce high ratings - tinnitus (the largest gateway claim to high ratings with secondaries) and sleep apnea (changing automatic 50% with CPAP to 0% with CPAP unless it objectively doesn't help). I personally believe that the MH ratings will be harder to get as well - but people are thinking they'll be easier all due to domains being used. This is just my opinion, though.

However, for what it's worth, the requirement for total occupational impairment to receive a 100% rating is being removed. Which can help.

Yea, I typicallly agree that anytime the government makes a change, especially when it has a financial impact, it’s to save money. But, on paper, it does seem that the PTSD rating is easier to get for 100% (1 level 4 rating in any of the 5 domains, or 2 level 3 ratings, in any of the 5 domains).

Yeah hopefully it works out for vets and the changes makes it easier.

But I believe that people think "hey, I have a level 3 rating in all of those categories now, i will definitely get 100% easy" or "I easily have a level 4 rating in at least 1 domain"
but we don't actually know how the VA will actually rate these domains. The VA's criteria for each level of domain may be extremely high.

But we shall see.
