I am a reservist who is having difficulty tracking down an RSO that can process my paperwork for retirement....yet I live 2 hours away from the closest location. Do you have to sit thru a face-to-face retirement briefing in order to get your paperwork processed? I received my orders last week...effect TOMORROW! I fear that after 3 years in this process, my retirement check will be even further delayed because of my location....as well as everything else that is going on. I called Bragg today and I think I woke the RSO (or the person answering the phone, who is also the POC listed on the G1 RSO webpage!) up from a nap!! She was going to pass my request for assistance to the "right" person....but would anyone advise showing up without an appointment? Does anyone have a POC name (at Fort Bragg RSO) I can ask for to bypass the people taking naps?

I know Fort Bragg only accepts new retirement packets on a certain day of the week, I forgot which day it is but you can call to get the correct day.
The person at the desk can get you the information you need
If you can afford the trip then you should take it and see what you can get to happen, I'm pretty sure if you let them know that you had to make the trip they will be willing to work with you
As far as the retirement briefing it's a class at the Soldier Support Center on Bragg, you also have to sit in the SBP briefing, and then you have the final out appointment where u make sure your info for you DD214 is accurate

I don't have direct contact info handy (I can look it up later, if you still need the help). But, past practice has shown that there are many RSO's at NG or Reserve duty sites (including all branches, Army, Navy, USMC, AF, USCG). You could try to search for a closer RSO.
Just a followup: and a reminder...I am a Reservist. I finally got an appointment. Mrs. Adams in the RSO at Bragg was outrageously helpful. She knew all the answers....never hesitated when I asked her a question. She even helped me get my CRSC packet together. (It was all one-on-one...no class to sit through) She went to pull out a Postal box (the size you would put a stack of 8x11 documents in) and gave me my retirement flag and pin. She was very gracious and listened to all of the roadblocks I encountered during this adventure!! The VA section is trying to steal her out of the RSO...but she said that she is now my S1 if I have any questions. If anyone needs any help at Bragg...this is the lady to see!
