Surgery while on PEB

Are you authorized to have surgery for a non referred condition?
Typically they do not allow a surgery when going through IDES. So unless it's an emergency they want you to not do it until you get through IDES.

what do you mean by non referred? Not why you referred to the medical board or not care referred by a military provider?

there's an army policy OTSG/MEDCOM Policy Memo 21-029 which govern elective treatment received by SM's while in the IDES process. How ever medically indicated care and treatment (including behavioral health) is authorized. If you are in the Army and cannot access the document, I can email it to you. Unfortunately, I don't now how to attach it.

He's talking about the condition referred that possibly could be unfitting. So for example if I was referred for mental health but had a problem with my wrist and wanted surgery. Unless it was medically necessary to be done right away all surgeries are prohibited during the IDES process.

I had surgery after being enrolled in IDES. My case was (still is) with the PEB when I had surgery. It wasn't for a referred condition but was considered a medical emergency. All surgeries have the potential to impact your case so service members are instructed to not undergoe surgery while in IDES unless your Dr determines that waiting will have a negative impact on your health.
