Texas MEB Timeline

When did you have your general exam done? And did you claim IBS? If your exam was done after in or after May I believe you are good.

It was in May and I claimed ibs yea. The dbq looks like the old one though.

I would recommend asking your MSC about it if you haven't already. Otherwise it will go all the way to rating before they request another exam.

hopefully the dbq and re-rating is super quick instead of something drawn out

Apparently the VA rating criteria for IBS changed before I had my exam for IBS which I don't believe because my general medical exam was in April and the guidance wasn't official until May....anyways, I guess this is in my favor because they added the 20% rating instead of just 10% or 30% and it gives me the opportunity to re address this claim which I should have 30% for. This is extremely frustrating as I had to yank this answer out of my MSC and the VA. I knew there was something wrong with my timeline when I had not received my rating back last month.
It's pretty hard to get concrete answers from anyone. But I will corroborate the May change... it took place during my proposals and it reflects. I was given 30% under the old criteria, only for it to be changed to 0%. Here's the VA correcting itself in black and white:

Congrats on the VA %.

Do you think it is possible you have a different rating for IBS and this one is for the 'chronic diarrhea'? I haven't received the break down of my claims but I had to go get another C&P exam done just for IBS since it switched to its own DQB. However the symptoms listed on there are what is on the new IBS DBQ. TheCivDiv on Youtube does a good job of explaining the new DBQ and what changed. If you have access to the DBQ from Tricare Online, I would suggest comparing what it on there with what he says on the video. From my understanding, you have to have at least 2 of those symptoms listed.

Thank you :)

Here's what the email says for the second MyFSS email:

"Your AF Form 356, Findings and Recommended Disposition of USAF Physical
Evaluation Board have been sent to the Physical Evaluation Board Liaison
Officer (PEBLO) at your base Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). Your PEBLO
will be putting together the rest of your package over the next 24 hours and
then contacting you once it is ready. When the package is ready, the PEBLO
will contact you to explain the Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) findings and
recommended disposition to you. If the PEBLO has not contacted you after 48
hours of receipt of this email notification, please contact them. You may
request a copy of the package for your personal records.

Your PEBLO will provide you with results on the AF Form 356 findings and
ask you to sign an AF Form 1180, Action on Physical Evaluation Board
Findings and Recommended Disposition within the next six days. The AF Form
1180 provides Airmen an option to agree or disagree with the PEB decision.
We recommend you contact the Office of Disability Counsel (ODC) to discuss
the findings prior to signing the AF Form 1180."

The old criteria lumped my symptoms with an IBS rating, the new one does not. I'm not upset with the rating or anything, my composite rating is still 100% and it was the last mystery my doctor was trying to figure out but my retirement orders came in before we got any answers. We ruled out parasites and vitamin deficiencies, and then I discharged.

Only reason I share this is to show that the criteria did in fact change: the wording on the decision shows that it did and the VA caught themselves mid decision between the criteria changing.

On the other hand, the Air Force gets this process wrapped up fast. Like really fast in comparison to everyone else from what I understand. Wishing you a good transition.

Congrats on your 100% as well! My goal is to use some of my funds to work with a holistic doctor who will treat the root cause vs just symptoms. Stomach problems are not fun. Thank you and same to you! I hope you are enjoying life post military.

Nice, I greatly appreciate posting your timeline. I should be coming up soon here too with a very similar timeline.
