Timeline on MEB for AGR

My PEBLO office doesn't bother to answer phone calls or emails and leadership can't get any info either. Hoping I can get some answers through here.

I'm currently an AGR waiting on AFPC decision.

Current timeline:
27 Nov 2024 - AAC 31/DAV 41 AMRO referral for General Anxiety Disorder
11 Feb 2025 - AAC 37/DAV 42 for MEB
14 April 2025 - IRILO packet sent to member
18 June 2025 - After several requested packet amendments, packet submitted to AFPC
23 June 2025 - Medical standards requesting copy of orders and PCARS/TAFMS
25 June 2025 - PEBLO sent to SGP for re-signature and then back to AFPC

PEBLO hasn't communicated or answered my emails since then. I have no information on the status of my packet, however, when the IRILO packet was sent to me, I was given a timeline stating that "AFPC/DPMNR has 10 calendar days to provide PEBLO with their decision: RTD, ALC, ConCare or full MEB. I understand military timelines are not set in stone, but it's been 33 days since the PEBLO office last communicated with me, and as far as I know, 33 days since AFPC has had my packet. There is a possibility that the packet was kicked back for missing information and the latest submission to AFPC is not indeed 25 June, but nobody tells me anything. When should I expect a decision from AFPC?

Also, if AFPC comes back with a full MEB, do I qualify for Leave without pay once AFPC decides on a full MEB? I would rather wait for my separation orderes on leave without pay than on full time orders.

Thanks for the info.

Im in the same boat however mine was submitted to AFPC July 3. I was told the 10 day thing aswell. I called my Peblo and was told they talked to AFPC and that my package got bumped by some Colonel needing his medboard quicker but that they see my package.

WHAT!? I just don't understand. Why do they give a 10 calendar day turnaround time and then they do this? I understand being busy and perhaps going over a couple of days... but I'm on day 34 of waiting. This is insane considering the response timeline should be 34 days... I'm also planning on skipping the VA and doing the VA on my own so that I can end my orders asap, but being in limbo and not knowing when a response will come back is driving me insane.

I have already reached out to the Patient Advocate office on my base and they said they would start a case to get the PEBLO office to at least communicate with me (they don't answer phone calls or emails and last correspondence I have is from June 25 when they said they submitted to AFPC).

I have also filed an ICE complaint (Military Interactive Customer Evaluation) asking them to either assign more people to the PEBLO office or to get the current reps there to actually communicate with service members going through the process. https://ice.disa.mil/index.cfm?fa=ice_main&dep=DoD

I know I could talk to my shirt, but she's not helpful because she just calls and emails the PEBLO numbers and emails I do and they don't answer to her either and she doesn't do anything beyond that. She also "recommended" that I don't bug them and let the process take its course because otherwise I could "risk them getting annoyed and pushing me to the back of the line".....

I messaged my PCM on MHS Genesis asking for an update and her nurse promptly replied the next morning saying "we contacted the PEBLO and they said it's still at AFPC. Please contact the PEBLO office for future updates".... which is not helpful considering that the PEBLO office doesn't answer....

I could possibly contact legal on my base and see if I can get in touch with the ODC (Office of Disability Council), but considering that the AFPC hasn't actually responded yet on a full MEB, I don't think I qualify for their services just yet.

At this point... I don't know what else I can do.

I have been reading up on some cases here and sometimes people do have a longer wait time unfortunately. I just checked my email today and yea still nothing.. If you happen to gett yours id be interested to know their decision. Also, just hang in there man I dont think you need to start grabbing your pitchfork against your peblo so early on.

Although the process is long, I think being given a deadline of 10 days and then not following up after 33 days, it makes it hard to be patient. However, through a different thread, I found that the wounded warrior rep is a good resource. So, I contacted my wounded warrior rep on base and he answered right away and was able to give me an update. He said AFPC is backed up with many files. AFPC is the one that gives the 10 calendar days timeframe but they haven't been able to keep that time frame for a while (which is discouraging). But he said he is meeting with the PEBLO office on Thursday and will find out how far behind AFPC is on cases and depending on what they say, he might reach out to AFPC to see if he can get any info since 33 days for a response is a very long time. I will make sure I update this thread when I know something.

Yea u being ahead of me and not having a response is pretty discouraging as this is the beginning of the whole process. Actually my Peblo does not answer many emails anymore since I have been bugging them about it aswell.. I wonder if AFPC needs more people in office or something. Needing 30+ Days is pretty insane for these timelines. Would you mind sending me the Wounded Warrior Rep #? My base doesnt seem to have one

So I don't think the one on my base could help you since he's assigned only for our base. However, here's the link to the website for the program https://www.woundedwarrior.af.mil/ and here's the general number that could tell you who is your base's representative: 800-581-9437 Also, my shirt didn't even know we had a Wounded Warrior rep.... the huge benefit of a rep on base is that they work closely with the PEBLO office and therefore can keep you better informed. If they are not on base, then they don't have that relationship with the PEBLO office. I would call that 800 number and figure out who the rep for your base is. Hope that helps!

I did find out we have a Afw2 contact, we spoke and she was a huge help actually since i applied for wounded warrior like a month ago she talked to my peblo and got a good timeline . She said they just signed someones FL4 that was sent to AFPC at the end of June..

oh man, I hope that means AFPC will respond to my packet soon. It's really hard to understand why these processes take so long and even harder to be patient with the process. I will keep you updated whenever I get a response.

As in a member is out and everything is finalized in less than 180 days through the IDES process? That's sort of promising. I wonder if that's a process specifically per base or all around. I'm in Utah.

Yes as far as im tracking its the entire process after that packet comes back from afpc. Im in Hawaii.. and they apparently havent broken the 180 days mark in about a year and a half unless stuff goes wrong

Reading the comments from people as I had my IRILO submitted middle of May and I still haven't heard anything. I am on a guard base and have been communicating with the Director of Mental Health Services as my condition is related to PTSD. She told me I don't have a PEBLO assigned currently? Not sure if this is a guard thing? I'm running the issue up my chain of command. The Mental Health director told me the only thing I could do was file a congressional complaint, but in her experience, it didn't do anything. If anyone has any contacts who might be able to help, I would really appreciate it. Going to drill weekends is awful. I'm in a flying squadron, I had gone to flight nurse school thinking I could handle it, but then started having nightmares and other issues from a helicopter crash I survived 26 years ago in the Navy. I don't know how much longer I can be patient with this process and it's still just the beginning as they haven't even decided on MEB, etc. I get so anxious whenever I'm on base, I drop about 10 pounds before drill just anticipating the anxiety I'm going to feel - I guess it's a good way to stay fit lol.

If you are a true DSG, I know the process is completely different from full time orders. I would reach out to the wounded warrior rep. That rep would be able to give you more information and advocate for you during the process. I most definitely understand the frustration though. Mine is not PTSD related but its anxiety related and nobody seems to understand my urgency for getting out. Everyone keeps telling me "it's a long process. Just ride out the process and keep collecting your regular paycheck" and every time I say I want the legacy DES over the Integrated DES so that I can get out sooner, I get the same response: "dont choose LDES. Just do IDES and you wont have a break in pay". Which, I would rather go through the VA process off orders and submit claim after claim if necessary until its resolved than stay one additional day on orders. I've even asked about leave without pay so that I can wait out this process not on orders and everyone looks at me as if Im crazy. "Why would you want LWOP? Just keep collecting your paycheck!" I feel like nobody understand the level of anxiety this job has caused me because they continue to tell me that riding out the process is "just the best option" but they dont understand that I need to get out NOW.

I feel you!

Contact your wounded warrior rep and hopefully they can give you more info on the process for a true dsg.

Thank you, I will do that. I have been lucky that I have not had to be on orders. I'm sorry you are going through that and I understand completely how you feel. No amount of money is worth this stress and anxiety. I have almost 30 years of active duty and guard time and I wish I would have just shut my mouth and put in for a retirement. But, I was afraid I was going to lock up or freak out on the aircraft if there was an emergency and I would never want someone to get hurt because of me. We lost a crewmember when we crashed our helicopter into the ocean and I don't think I could survive getting in an another aircraft emergency and see someone get injured or killed.

Yeah mental health is definitely very real with dire consequences. I dont understand why they don't try to make this process easier and faster.

Have u received any update?

Sort of. I got accepted in the Wounded Warrior Program (I highly recommend you apply by the way- the wounded warrior rep definitely does a way better job at keeping you updated regarding your case than the PEBLOs or anyone else for that matter) and I had an "intro to the program" meeting today. He also contacted the PEBLOs while I was in the meeting with him and asked them to call AFPC to get an update. The PEBLOs did just that and they found out that since I am Air Guard on full time orders (AGR), my packet went to the Air National Guard office within AFPC and they are estimating they will get to my packet and give me an answer in 3 weeks. So.... I should have an update in 3 weeks, which is very discouraging, but at least I have been given a timeline.

If you are regular AD, then AFPC is apparently behind 33 days. So, it used to take 10 days for AFPC to give you an answer, now it's taking 43 days, since they are behind 33 days.

I applied for AFW2 when my package was submitted Jul7. I am in contact with the rep now and she sees my package and is very helpful (more than the peblo), but they are waiting on my FL4 to come back. I just hit 20 business days today since submission.
