Tricare eligibility for Reservist after being medically retired

I'm getting mixed signals regarding Tricare eligibility as I am set to medcailly retire next week. I am a Reservist that has been on CO-ADOS orders for 9 years and thought I had 180 days of Transitional Assistance Management Program (TAMP). I spoke with Tricare. They referred me to DEERS. DEERS said "no" and I should get normal Tricare benefits as a retiree. He stressed making sure the ID office entered my data correctly and to make sure my ID says "RET ARMY", not "RES RET". Not sure that sounds right or not.

For context, my IDES results were 60% DoD, combat coded and I have my 20-year letter (if that matters in this case) My DD214 states "Type of Separation: Retirement", "reason for separation: disability, combat related". My retirement orders state all this, as well.

I have a GS job lined up in OCT with DA but need to make sure my family and I have medical coverage between now and then.

Does anyone know for sure what health care my family and I are entitled to as a Reservist being medically retired?

Thanks!

The key at this time is Disability Retirement. Once you near the reserve retirement age requirement you can apply for a reserve retirement.

I believe that everyone who gets off of active duty honorably gets TAMP, regardless of why (retiring or going back to TPU) because it’s meant to support all transitions—hence the “T” in TAMP. There is a code on your DD214 that explains whether you are eligible for TAMP. The people processing DD214s on your base “should” know that… but I had to get mine fixed the last time I got off orders so… I eventually got my 6 months of TAMP after 2 years of COADOS orders when I went back to TPU.
