My crsc timeline and guidance

Many of the rates will be increased by COLA. I think I saw 1.06% as the projected increase but I could be wrong. I was looking for something else at the time.

Found it:

"The 2020 Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) increase for the 68 million Americans who rely on Social Security, VA disability, military retirees and other government benefits will be 1.6%. An increase is good news but a modest increase compared to last year’s 2.8%. COLA increases are based on the inflation measurement period of the 3rd quarter (July, August, and September) compared to the previous 3rd quarter."

And from the Social Security Administration:
Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits for nearly 69 million Americans will increase 1.6 percent in 2020.

The 1.6 percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) will begin with benefits payable to more than 63 million Social Security beneficiaries in January 2020. Increased payments to more than 8 million SSI beneficiaries will begin on December 31, 2019. (Note: some people receive both Social Security and SSI benefits)

Currently no CRSC statement ON my pay. I assume it should populate by the EOM. Approval letter from HRC was uploaded and submitted to DFAS on September 10th. I will update once I see it on mypay.
My pay updated 23rd Of October with CRSC Statement and received first payment on the 1st Of November. My audit began October 6 according to a rep I spoke to at DFAS.

Update to CRSC payment

Mypay crsc populated 0CT 23
First crsc payment NOV 01
Mypay crsc retro pay populated NOV 01
Crsc retro pay deposited into account Nov04

That's a great news, I got my pay o the first. Still waiting on retro pay.

Awesome! Did you apply immediately after out of service? When was your effective date on approval letter?

Yeah I’m just curious if his effective date is goes back longer than my effective date. I go back to Dec 2017.....

@RonG spoke to DFAS my backpay is in the payroll que? Any idea what that means?
I suspect they told you it was in the payroll queue.

I have never heard a DFAS employee use that term; however, queue generally means, "a line of people or things waiting for something."

So...it appears the audit, etc., has been completed and your documentation is included within multiple items pending payment processing.

I would interpret the info you received as, "it should be soon."

Good luck,

Ron

Well if DFAS ducks are in a row, raiderx should get his backpay just before me.

My retro pay probably did not have to get many signatures becuase, it was not a large sum. I retired may 27, than had to wait for my va offical ratings packet in the mail which took about 3 months than I was able to submit my CRSC packet. So retro pay was not a large sum as some peoples that date back a year if not more.

Ok...the 100% VA would reduce the retired pay to zero.

Since there is no residual retired pay, the 1037 would become the CRSC.

Very good question..

Ron
Hello first time here I was medically retired for injuries from combat. I served a total of 41/2 years of active duty. I got out in 2012.
I am 100% VA but never new about this program till now. I am getting my packet ready now but wanted to get some clarity on how to calculate crsc ?

izamora03,

Based on the very limited info you provided:

Your CRSC will likely be limited to the longevity portion of your retired pay.

1. Active duty years or active duty equivalent years x 0.025 = longevity multiplier (example: 4.5 years AD x 0.025 = 11.25%)
2. High three average base pay x longevity multiplier = longevity portion of retired pay and likely CRSC (example using random number, 2500 high three x 0.1125 = 281.25 longevity portion of retired pay and potential CRSC)

Other:
--Take the gross retired pay on your DFAS RAS and divide it by the DoD disability retirement percentage = high three average base pay
--Collection of CRSC info is at ---> THIS LINK

Thanks for the response Ron so crsc potential payment would be how much ? And would I get back pay if I got out in 2012 and I’ve only been getting VA

I’ll just provide my phone number so we can text if that’s ok Ron [text number removed RonG Mod] thanks for all you do

Respectfully, how could I possibly offer that information? I know little of your situation.

I used a random number to show an example computation. You need to provide some information to allow for a computation.
Additionally, I do not compute retroactive CRSC; too many variables such as COLA increases, etc. Your CRSC approval letter will cite the effective date.

ALL of the following Information is necessary for CRSC estimate:
—High three average base pay OR the gross retired pay on DFAS RAS (which is preferred)
—DoD disability percentage
—Active duty years or active duty equivalent years
—VA compensation percentage; amount; and dependents (category, number, and ages of children)
—Approved CRSC percentage
—Other type military retirement eligibility info

Regards,
Ron
