Hello, I hope you can help me in calculating my CRSC payment. I currently get paid 189.23 for CRSC and recently submitted a letter for reconsideration with my VA ratings. I received a letter back stating that my claim has been approved. It states the Total Combined Percentage as follows:

Total Combat Related Disability 30% DEC 14 - SEP 15
Total Combat Related Disability 60% OCT 15

I was medically retired from the ARMY on November 2014.
Active Duty for 3 years and 8 months.
Started as an E-2 and went through a medical board as an E-4.
My wife is my only dependent, we do not have children

Base pay when I retired was $2215.80
Monthly VA pay is $3,760.14
My VA ratings are 100%
My DoD ratings are 100%
I believe that my High 3 is $2,953.33 based on the Excel Spreadsheet I found in the forum.

Please let me know if you need more information. And thank you for your help.

Chuck.

a couple things. i need how many years active duty. also if your base pay was 2215 at time of retirement, how is your high 3 2953? my understanding is high three is the average of your last 3 years of service

also based on your info im suspecting your cap of years of service is the 189.23 and crsc cannot be paid any higher regardless of percentage increase

sorry for the multiple replies. i just re read your post. based on your years of service your pay is capped by that and your pay of 189.23 is the most crsc will pay out for you. only increases will be the periodic cola increases

Hello edwards7986. If you don't mind double checking me on the High 3 as it's very confusing to me. I used an excel spreadsheet that I had found on this forum somewhere and it showed how to enter the data and the sheet calculates your High 3. My years in active duty were a total of 3 years and 8 months. No worries about the multiple responses, I really appreciate the help.

for your high three. take the average of the last three years you were in the service. my estimate for you is around two grand a month. your years of service portion of your retirement which is based on your 3 years 8 months active is what caps you at the 189 approx. crac wont pay above the years of service portion

Thank you edwards7986. Yes, your explanation makes perfect sense. Thank you very much for your response, you guys make it so much more easier to understand.

Hello,

Your info.

189.23 for CRSC
3 years 8 months AD = 3.333 AD

Comments based on info available.

1. 3.333 x 2.5 % = 8.33% longevity multiplier
2. Assumption: 189.23 is 8.33% of an unknown number
3. 189.23/0.0833 = 2271.67
4. 2271.67 x 8.33% = 189.23

i agree with Edwards' remarks and it appears the high three is 2271.67 which is the the result of high three at retirement, subsequently increased by COLA .

Thank you very much. I appreciate the help!
Thanks Chuck...Edwards did all the work. I just wanted to see if the amount could be 'backed into." I do CRSC and other computations rather than crossword puzzles.

Regards,
Ron
