From a non-military source:

The governing regulation on forced vaccinations in the Army is AR 600-20, paragraph 5-4. If a Soldier denies a vaccination, that Soldier’s Commander must ensure the Soldier understands the purpose of the vaccine, ensure the Soldier has been advised of the possibility that the disease may be naturally present in a possible area of operation or may be used as a biological weapon against the United States, and ensure that the Soldier is educated about the vaccine and has been able to discuss any objections with medical authorities.

After a Commander does the above, he or she has to counsel the Soldier, in writing, that he or she is legally required to be immunized and that if he or she continues to refuse the vaccine, he or she will be legally ordered to do so and that failure to obey will be punished under the UCMJ.

Until you get out the military still owns you. I am hearing that they are going to start requiring the COVID19 vaccine soon. If they do I advise you to follow orders and get it. Don't risk getting kicked out with an administrative discharge over something like this especially when you are in IDES which could result in a Medical Retirement.

I’m in LDES,From my research and my opinion there’s not enough research for them to convince me to take it

Do whatever your principles and entire future can afford to do. It will be a legal, lawful directive/order when issued.

It is my understanding that the mandatory vaccination for all soldiers [and other military members] is pending full approval of the vaccine by the FDA,

This is not good advice. There is absolutely not any clear or convincing evidence that this experimental treatment under emergency use authorization is safe and/or effective. It is literally a life and death decision.

Besides all that, I don't see the need to get a shot for a virus that has a 99%+ survival rate.

@RonG , I am a reservist and facing the very real possibility of being forced out just a few years short of retirement with nothing. I plan to claim religious exemption and should that be declined I will take the NJP or court martial and retain an attorney for the lawsuit. At least I will still be alive.

Ultimately It's your choice. Its the military's decision to require the vaccine. You are the one that will have to deal with the consequence of your decisions. Good Luck.

Again,

Do whatever your principles and entire future can afford to do. It will be a legal, lawful directive/order when issued.

This forum is nothing but opinions and non-legal advice.

In that press that a memo making vaccine mandatory will soon be at POTUS' desk no later than mid September.

“I will seek the president’s approval to make the vaccines mandatory no later than mid-September, or immediately upon” licensure by the Food and Drug Administration “whichever comes first,” Austin said in his memo, warning them to prepare for the requirement.

Austin’s plan provides time for the FDA to give final approval to the Pfizer vaccine, which is expected early next month. Without that formal approval, Austin needs a waiver from Biden to make the shots mandatory, and Biden has already made clear he supports the move.

This is the most basic question any basic training grad should be able to answer: art92 - failure to follow lawful orders.

Unfortunately your opinion of a vaccine is irrelevant. I had quite a few comrades find this out the hard way with the Anthrax vaccine.. which actually had published studies saying it had numerous negative effects. Same with the Malara pills. Same with the flu shot. I expect that after 15 September, any SM refusing the vax will be disobeying an order from their commander and chief with 0 sympathy from any appellate authority.

As everyone else has said: Do whatever you can handle. You came here for advice, and all of the highly experienced people are telling you the same thing.

Article 92 of the UCMJ. They don't need to convince you. They own you until you are no longer in the miltary.
Glad someone gets what kind of control I/we have relinquished. When every aspect of my life is written in doctrine, that’s when I learned I lost lol. Probably start preparing for an admin sep, don’t quote me but misconduct and charges can affect your medical board process.

I'm sorry, allow me to clarify. Yes it is a personal decision and many factors are at play. If indeed one has taken everything into account and believes that it's worth it, by all means you should do it.
Also. Yes, after you sign that paper you lose control. The service owns you.
However I do not agree with just going along to get along in the interest of keeping your retirement. It's only one piece of the puzzle. I personally disagree with this shot for many reasons, and my hope is that everyone educates themselves before making the decision.

It was a black and white statement. What I stated was not an opinion. It was a fact.

Exactly it’s not a lot of research on this vaccine,They can’t tell us the long term effects of it,how long it last etc,I can go along for retirement and what if I get messed up from taking it?Im refusing it I’m not being forced to take something that the fda got bullied into approving.

We all take risks in life. Everything is a calculated risk to include mundane things like driving. The decision to take the vaccine or not has risks too. From the data I have reviewed from the actual studies the risks seem to show that the benefit vs risk of side effects heavily is in favor of getting the vaccine even for young healthy adults.. You are right about not knowing long term side affect risks but we can make an educated guess based on past vaccines. If you are worried there is less information about the mRNA vaccines there is non mRNA vaccine available. My wife was forced to take the Small Pox Vaccine and the Anthrax Vaccines which to me are much more risky than the COVID19 vaccine. You also have to calculate things based on your own tolerances. There is an unknown risk that you are concerned about with getting the vaccine (which may be no adverse health affects or there could be some for which the VA will cover you later on if that happens) verse a known risk which is disobeying a direct order and being kicked out of the military with no pension and possibly an other than honorable (OTH) discharge.

You asked what would happen if you disobeyed an order. We told you. Everything else you say doesn't matter. This isn't a vax vs anti-vax forum. Nobody cares about your feelings, because this forum isn't for "who supports me in my feelings"...
If there was a regulation that supported you, somebody would have told you that as well. Because the advice your getting from these professionals isn't based on their feelings on masks, vaccines, or politics; it's based on regulations and laws. Unfortunately there isn't a single regulation that will support you on this, so take your agenda to reddit where people are happy to argue for your feelings.

This is lunacy.
-However, those that make this choice should be comfortable signing their rights to medical care, oxygen and ventilator use related to contracting the disease so that they will be available for others who have had the vaccine.
-Healthcare workers should not be this overwhelmed for this long due to personal vaccine stance from the minority of the worlds population. Science behind it is solid...but that would require actually reading academic papers and not FB.
-Outside of the combat zone...I have NEVER seen this many sick/injured patients flooding our hospitals for so long. With over 20+ years I and many of my collogues are considering different careers. Medicine is our calling but the emotional toll from seeing the death and long term sickness associated with COVID is brutal to those of us on the trenches. Again, you do you...make your decision but that decision should also go along with waiving your healthcare treatment for symptoms related to contracting it. Seems fair to us in healthcare.
