SEPT IPEB

i received mine yesterday. it was sent out sept 23rd and i received it oct 19th.

now im waiting on the VA rating board. it's been at the board since august 5th.

elrey, if you don't mind my asking, what was yours for? Mine is a single issue (rheumatoid arthritis) and I'm desperately trying to get a feel for how long it's going to take. My PEBLO refuses to contact the IPEB until at least 75 days have passed.

My IPEB was sent 7 June 2010 I called and called my PEBLO nothing... When I called 88 days after and went off on him he finally decided to call. come to find out IPEB wanted more info..they sent that email to the wrong person, and IPEB hand to give me more time to get the new info they wanted. So now its a waiting game again. I hate this, i want to know which way they are going. am i in or out.....

Hello, everyone. My name is Carl Prine and I'm a reporter for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. I'm also a combat infantry veteran of Iraq (2005-06, Anbar).

I'm working on a series of stories about the WTUs and VA, and part of my focus is the MEB and PEB processes: How long it takes, how everyone is treated, what life is like for personnel while they're going through the system.

If anyone wants to talk about what they experienced -- on or off the record -- please call me in the newsroom at (412) 320-7826. I also can be reached at [email protected] . If you know someone who wants to share what they went through, good or bad, please pass on this information.

Thanks!

Carl

Hello,

Does anybody know if this makes any sense? My package was originally sent to the IPEB on Sept 1st. On Sept 30th, It came back needing a ROM test. On October 5th It was sent back out. Today is the 5th of November. So it took just under a month for them to decide I needed a ROM test. I imagine if it was originally sent off with the ROM, I would have gotten my results back on that day. Is it possible that my package was put back at the bottom of the pile, and I basically started over again? I cannot get any sort of answer from my PEBLO... whatsoever. She told me on 5 Nov that it would not be any longer than 2 weeks.

Mine was sent up on the 24th of Oct and they recieved it on the 27th. nice lady @ the peblo stated that I was correct in it taking 2-3 weeks for answer. (army)

She said that if it comes back before 15 days that it is very likely you were found fit, but that if it comes back in the 3rd week it is highly likely an unfit finding.

So mine has been there now for 8 business days. I'll update you when I get it back, but the norm here on post is anywhere from 14days to 24days.

Now that I know that I will be leaving next month, What do I need to do...besides out process....any other paper work that I should know of?
I have TAPS in 1 wk....I should be leaving here in about 30-40 days.
I want to make sure that I have all my ducks in a row.

Last how much should I expect for a check monthly?
My monthly base pay is 2906.70
Do I get two checks? Military and VA?

No, I have not.
I am waiting on a copy of my medical records, should be completed soon.

How long does that take?
When should I do it?
My offical retirement date is 24 Jan 11, I am leaving here 17 Dec, to go back home.
They have a huge a army base there where I should be able to get that done.
What paper work do I need?
Also, how long does it take to take the pay to kick in?

After I was told that I was getting a CPAP machine , I went to request my records. After a couple of weeks and asking for different items, I was told I could have a free copy of my records if I were going to the MEB. I now have most of my records and plan on updating as needed.

I am told my papers will head to the MEB on 9 Nov. I have a lot of issues and and was told by my PCM that he was sending me to the MEB for my back sometime in the beginning of Oct. I think he is trying to buy me time because I told him I wanted to stay in the AF. I have since changed my mine and don't care anymore after finding all the crap in my medical records that I was never told about.

Isauce,

I'm not sure of setting up the VA process because I was part of the joint DOD/VA pilot program, so all of my examinations were already scheduled for me. I'm sure they have a process set-up where service members are examined either prior to, or after getting out, for VA compensation purposes. Generally, you will request the VA to set up C&P examinations for ALL of your compensatable physical and mental issues, not just the unfitting ones, and they will rate you based on those examinations. It is very important for you to set this up ASAP. The reason why I say this is because your DOD retirement pay will not be very much (%40 of $2906 is $1162 taxed, about $850 or so) compared to what the VA may pay you untaxed. You will not collect a DOD retirement check and a VA check unless you have 20+ years of service and are rated at %50 percent or higher by the VA (unless your unfitting conditions are combat related). I'm sure somebody will chime in and guide you through the VA process. If not, I would call the VA and ask them what you need to do to set this up.

I got my orders finally 2 1/2 wks after I accept my finds from the IPEB on 5 Nov 10. I final out next month 23 Dec 10. I might be home a day after X-mas but that is all right, I get to move on to the next stage of my life. the last thing I have to do once I get there is my VA claim...I will still have about 45 days left of AD...so that is my #1 priority once I get home.

I want to thank all those that have help on my journey to get where I am at now. I know if I run into any problems later I can turn to you all. Once again thank you all for the advice/comments.
