Re: VA comp and retired pay: It is NOT a choice of which to take. The choice is whether to accept VA comp and waive retired pay dollar for dollar in the amount of VA comp received. Any retired pay remaining after the VA offset/reduction/waiver (i.e., residual retired pay) is disbursed to the retiree. If one declines VA comp, all they receive is the retired pay and no chance to apply for CRSC.
The selection/agreement is on the VA claim for compensation. Block 26 is the specific location. If one checks block 26, they
will not receive VA compensation. Leaving the block 26 unchecked means the retiree agrees to waive retired pay etc., but left unsaid is the FACT that any retired pay in excess of the reduction/waiver/offset is paid to them.
One will not receive all their retired pay and VA compensation simultaneously unless they qualify for CRDP which generally requires either a regular retirement (20 yrs AD or more) or a non-regular retirement (Reserve/NG0 which requires 20 good years amount other thing. There is also TERA which would qualify one for CRDP if otherwise qualified, but that is becoming a rarity now.
An admin who is involved in the following statement should change his/her PMOS: "Also has anyone
else’s admin been like “You can get both VA and DoD retirements even if you’re medically retired before 20.”
CRSC can replace some or all of waived retired pay.

It likely doesn't state you will receive a bonus when you retire. That does not mean you will receive one. Sorry, but it a simple matter of what is required to receive CRDP or CRSC. If you don't see something that qualifies you, then you will not receive it.
