Finally, something

Well, it won't happen here, my peblo didn't even tell me about the unfit/fit memo I got it from someone off this forum. He doesn't even return my calls or keep me updated. I filled out one ice comment on him I think I am going to fill out another one. Thanks for the information.

Yeah that sucks when you get a PEBLO like that, I guess I'm lucky to have my PEBLO

So can I find that out before they send it to the PEB or do I have to wait? If I can, how can I find out what my preliminary rating is? I also have another friend going through the same thing as I (no info from peblo) and this sight has been a lifesaver. I saw on ebenifits that I have a POA at the VA already, didn't know how that happened? Do I call the VA in WA or here in California where I am stationed? Sorry for so many questions, just trying to be proactive.
You'll have to wait, the PEB sends your packet to the VA to get your ratings done, then the VA sends it back to the PEB so they can apply the ratings to the 199. Once your ebennies says "Pending Decision Approval" this means the prelims are done. You can call up the VA hotline at any point once you get this status update to try and get your % and/or request the ratings to be sent to your address.

Finally yesterday ebenefits says my case was closed on 11/21/2012 and I called the VA # and the lady mailed me out my Proposed %s but would not tell me over the phone. Going to try to talk to someone else in morning c if they will tell me. Atleast now the Navy can get off their butt and move my case along to the end. Ready to go home to the family. God Bless all of you on here and may we be home by Christmas.

Good news kiefer!!!

I called the toll free number this morning and this is really starting to get frustrating. On OCT 1, my packet was sent from VA to the MSC who sent it to the PEB the very next day. I already got the signatures from the VA authorization and showed on EBENEFITS as well. Today the answer I got from the VA rep not once but twice because I called them twice and waiting on almost an hour on hold till I got a rep only to hear your claim is in the development phase which is at the beginning stages and could take up to 11 months to process depending on the back log. I emailed my peblo and have not got a reply. I plan to call my MSC to see if anything really has changed. I will be really upset if things change especially since I already got the packet from the VA showing 30% DOD and 100% VA.

Your VA packet will remain in "Development" and will bounce around until you are a Veteran (off orders, off terminal leave...). Don't worry about the VA right now. From what you explained above, they can't do anything for you. The PEB has your packet, and it took me three months to get my initial-199 after the VA produced their proposed findings.

I expect your packet will take even longer than mine. The computer system that handles the PEB process was down for three weeks in Oct; I don't think that the PEB worked over the Thanksgiving holiday, and I think that the PEBs will be working at a reduced capacity during the last couple weeks in December. Just for expectation-management, you may want to plan on getting your 199 in late-January 2013. Concentrate on bugging your PEBLO, and if you get "no joy" talk to his boss.

I hope it happens sooner, but that would be based on my experience (seven referred conditions). Thanks for your service!

Yes thanks for the info, I just also spoke to my MSC and said the same thing. She told me do not call VA because they are not proficient on the IDES system and only know what they see. Our MSC will be the liaison to assist with the packet. My MSC explained that the ratings should stay the same and to just wait for the 199. I agree the holidays will really slow things down. It is good that the WTU got and extension on my MRP orders till MAY 2013. I feel that this process will run into JAN and my new ETS could end up being around March or April. At least after I do get the 199 I can start planning. Especially for employment.

With the delays, don't make yourself crazy if it goes into Feb 13. Wish you the best.

It really does suck to have a terrible peblo. On top of that have your proposed findings almost done just to hit the holidays. It is so agonizing. Sad thing is my peblo failed to notify me the AFPC requested more info. So my packet is a month behind where it should be. Id probably be outprocessing right now = /. Couldve been home for the holidays. Now Ebenefits is under my xmas tree lol. Just bug everyone. It isn't gonna make your process slower or faster. but itll make you feel better.

I finally received my ratings this morning. Nice lady at the VA faxed them to me.

30% DOD and 80% VA Proposed

PTSD 30%
Crohns 30%
Migraines 30%
Scars 30%
Tinnitus 10%
Tongue Damage due to surgery 10%

Navy JAG in Pensacola is going to go over them with me, and I am going to accept the findings. Happy with the unfit from DOD, and the %s from the VA. Plus I have a sleep study next week, and if diagnosed with sleep apnea that will put me over the 100% mark. This long journey is finally coming to end.

So I have another question, I got my percentage from my MSC over the phone, but he said only my Peblo is the only one that could give me a copy of it. Is there another way to get a copy of my preliminary?

Register a Power of Attorney with a Veteran's Service Orgainization (DAV, AL, VFW...). Their Service Officers can track and print up everything. Usually takes a couple days after they get the POA. Just tell them you already filed a VA packet and that you want to track it, and possiably use them for any needed appeal. It tends to work better if you don't use a VA Center on any DoD base.

They have no idea about the IDES, they only deal with the VA, not DoD.

Some have been successful and lucky by calling the VA's Call Center, but it is actually against VA policy for them to release incomplete ratings.
