You still keep attending training until the process is complete. If you have a good command they should work with you and since the DES was required by the Navy make that’s your duty location for the day as opposed to having you come in for a drill weekend. You can easily ride out the time to 20 by electing the DES option. I started mine at 19 years two months or so and just passed over 20 and still not done. This at least ensures the lock in on the grey area retirement.

I can agree with that 100% and when called they all give different answers and can’t give a proper update for their lives. Hopefully you don’t wind up back in their realm again like I did.
