    Reg Retirement vs medical retirement

Curious about this topic as well. Do most that qualify for regular retirement opt for that rather than having to go through the IDES process? I figure if you’re going through IDES at 20 plus and found unfit, might as well take the disability retirement, no?

    Do I qualify for CRSC

Do you want to stay in until 20 years? AR 635-40, Chapter 6: Continuation on Active Duty (COAD). And yes, you should apply for CRSC if and when the time comes battle buddy!

I assumed I wasn't eligible for CRSC, but now I think I may be due to the PACT Act

I would pursue and apply for it. Just because your paperwork doesn’t state a condition is combat related doesn’t mean you can’t apply for CRSC. Not sure what your percentage would be, but I would apply. I don’t like having what ifs or unanswered questions. It can’t hurt to apply battle buddy!

    COAD Question

Also if COAD’s only got approved for 1-2 years they wouldn’t have it be an option for Soldiers with 15 but less than 20 years.

19 Year SM looking for advice.

Dude, get the help and care you need. It’s a big step recognizing your own issues, that means it’s time to bury them and put it to rest so you can move on and live a great retired life. Either way I agree with most comments that you will hit 20 years, I truly believe that’s a non-issue. I 100%...

    Question @ Bliss

The retirement packet will help especially if approved prior to initiating the MEB. You have the right mindset. Always be a step ahead and have a COA for every potential issue. Forward thinking is very beneficial.

    Question @ Bliss

I would delay if possible. But if it’s initiated those regulations give you a few different routes to attain 20 years AFS. Not sure how it would impact your CSP. I’m not too familiar with those regulations. If you start the MEB you can appeal and delay the process as well, and if found unfit you...

    Question @ Bliss

AR 635-40 CH. 6; Continuation on active duty (COAD). AR 635-40 CH. 4-29; Retention of Soldiers with more than 18 but less then 20 years of active service. I think you’ll be ok when it comes to attaining 20 years AFS. However, know regulations that will inform you of your options to hit your 20...
