Good morning all, I could really use some help and insight. Today I was seen by my pcm and he decided that he was going to recommend me for an MEB I believe is what he said. Which is all good and dandy, however. I am about to pcs March 26th, so about a month or less. And I actually want to pcs seeing as how I will finally be able to be with her at my new duty station, having been apart for over a yr.
It will truly break her hearts if I have to wait 3months to a yr for thIS MEB situation to be sorted out.

My question is how likely is it that I will be able to pcs?

Also, if they don’t confirm it before I pcs it should be moved over to my new pcm at my gaining unit, right? Will that cause any issues?

Thank you in advance.
(In the Army btw.)

If they put you in MEB then your PCS would be on hold I am sorry to say! My wife had PCS orders cancelled when the Army found out she was in IDES. I know that sucks but if you embrace the suck and focus on getting the correct results then very soon you will be able to move out to be with your significant other. I would consider talking to a dedicate private attorney about your situation. I always say its best to hire a private dedicated attorney when going through IDES to ensure you get the best result. I will send you some references. My wife hired one and it was one of the best decisions ever.

@Provis is correct. You will not be PCS during a MEB. If they are offering a MEB, then take it.

The above statements aren’t 100% accurate at least for the AF. I just went through something similar to you a little over a year ago, but I didn’t what to take the crappy assignment. At the time, my PCM had not assigned a limitation code to prevent the PCS for special medical treatment. Since it had not been determined whether or not I was going to go through a complete MEB, my PCS was going to go through. I got within 43 days of my RNLTD and annoyed my PCM until they coded me for special medical treatment, since MEB code wasn’t applicable at the time since my local base hadn’t provided their recommendation to Hq yet. The recommendation for local level look about 40 days and I was in a weird position. My career field functional, would not cancel my assignment until HQ determined I was going through a full MEB which took weeks from the PCM flagging be locally.

Good to know. So at least in the Army the referral to IDES starts with a P3 profile. That P3 is what prevents you from PCS etc. For Air Force members going through an MEB, the first step is always the Informal Review in Lieu Of (“IRILO”) review by AFPC and so its not official and so it doesn't count lol. If this review recommends a full MEB then you are officially in IDES.

He is Army. So, this has nothing to do with his situation. We all gave him the correct information. Source: I am Army, on a P3 profile and cannot PCS during a MEB.

@S3Mi: There's no need to get defensive. I clearly said, “The above statements aren’t 100% accurate, at least for the AF.” I was trying to share my perspective in the event the army is like the AF.

Thanks for sharing how the Army works @Provis.

Talk to your provider and ask them to hold off. Explain your situation.
