I started the MEB with IDES in August 2020. All C&P exams were completed in November. NARSUM completed and submitted. My PEBLO informed me that the proposed ratings were DOD 60 VA 100. I was on AGR status with over 17 years of active duty 34 years total. i turned 60 January 2021 and was extended through March 2021 to complete the process. After my orders ended I noticed in ebenefits my case with the VA was closed without ratings. I have now been informed by the VA that it is possible I will have to start the VA process over because I was disenrolled from IDES. This means no CRDP, Insurance ends in approximately 75 days and as of yesterday. MDay retirement packet has not been submitted meaning I cannot get Tricare for life as a retired Soldier until packet approved and orders received. I am at a loss for words. Advise needed.

Apply immediately for benefits with the VA.

Will your AD orderes be extended again?

I asked Friday and was told that I am in a retired status and was not in the pay system. I realize it is a lot of work to extend me but being this close and having to start over is unbelievable.

I would ask for clarification from you HR personnel. When they say you are retired, that should mean you are on a retired list and eligible for non-regular retirement benefits. If you still need to apply, that indicates you were transferred to the Retired Reserve. These are not synonymous.

Retired people can be put on orders. I was the sole reservist in a room full of "retirees" that were recalled to AD in September 2001. Most were very unhappy campers.

The Army mobilized IRR Soldiers but I believe retiree recalls were all voluntary.

I am not surprised at their "unhappiness."

I was drafted in 1966 and I suppose most were a little unhappy since they would have enlisted if they wanted to be in the service. HOWEVER, it seemed the most unhappy in those groups in the 1960s were those chosen to be members of the USMC instead of the Army.

My Dad got his draft notice in the mail, but left it unopened until after he had enlisted in the USN.

Good move on his part. My dad joined the Navy in 1920 when he was 15. I have a copy of his enlistment documents where both he and his mother state he was born in 1903 rather than the correct year of 1905. Hard times back then and I suppose it was not uncommon for underage enlistments.

This group of USAF retirees and IMAs were all involuntarily recalled. A few didn't have negative feeling, but most were hostile. I'd say more than half of retirees were totally unaware they could be recalled to AD. The IMAs all understood it was part of the deal.

I'm sorry to take over this thread, but I too need advice. Upon, looking at my VA results I realized that I am 100% with SMC-S for Schizoaffective disorder. I am completely housebound, but can go out in public. My concerns is with being housebound, I will need to work because my disability pension is not enough. Will I be able to work at all? If so, do you think a part time job of some sort will suffice or if not, can or am I able to do telework? Please any advice would be greatly appreciated.
