Backdated LOD

Hey everyone,

so it is rare for me to find YouTube videos or forums for that matter on experiences with backdated LOD’s (Army). Not sure how any other branches work. This is also Guard and not active duty so keep that in mind as well.

In June 2018 I hurt my back carrying a very heavy field water bladder when another soldier dropped his side I took all the weight from it.

I went to the doc in the box and got medical evidence. Later got a shotty exam by a “spine specialist” who did a quick motion test. Which hurt like hell and said “your good” it will heal up. I did receive an approved LOD for this about 2 1/2 months later.

fast forward to Feb 2020 I was at the gym walking on the treadmill when I had a SEVERE muscle spasm and fell off the treadmill. I went back to the doc because it hurt for weeks after the fact. They took X-rays and MRIs to find multiple bulged discs, a slipped vertebrae, sciatica done both legs and occipital nueralgia.
I started the process of trying to get an LOD since June 2020. I was told “it’s being worked on” and “this person has it and that person has it”.

I finally had enough by feb 2021 I filed an IG complaint. The appointing authority and IO were the issues during this “formal investigation”. It would get assisgned and they would move or retire. I must have heard of me having 5 appointing authorities and at least 5 investigative officers.

finally once the pit bull (IG) got on them I finally had my IO called me and went over my evidence (clearly for the first time) said “this is pretty self explanatory. Looks like you hurt it but they didn’t diagnose it correctly. I will recommend approval on this”. After 8 months my “investigation” was solved in 5 minutes.

I kept my IG complaint open until the IG and IDES staff both confirmed that the paperwork was stamped by the state surgeon and G1 and sent to NGB. I then closed the IG case.

NGB has sent back my LOD packet twice for “clerical errors” and I am. Currently waiting on word back to see if my already existing LOD can be changed with the revisions needed.

mall of this needs to happen before starting the Med board. I have almost given up multiple times due to the timeline. Because I know once the Med board starts it’s gonna be the same shit show with different people.

if anyone else has the same story please share on this thread. I know I could not have been the only one looking for a story similar to this one just to see what someone else had to go through.

also shout out to all of you that post. It’s helped me along the way and I’m not even in the dang Meb/Peb process yet.

Backdating an LOD isn't unheard of as a diagnosis progresses. They can also "edit" the narrative as long as it hasn't been stamped by NGB.

Glad you got some resolution with your IG complaint.

Thanks man. It’s more my story to share with others. They should know not to wait as long as I did to put in the compliant with the IG. I would say 75 days 90 max.
