Thank you, do you think borderline could be secondary to my MST/Physical assault? The VA will assign you a diagnosis for the purpose of compensation. All of the diagnoses you listed can be rated, except Borderline Personality Disorder.
Why are they an exception? Thank you for the responseThey lump all of your MH conditions together. It doesn’t matter if you have 1 diagnosis or 10 (personality disorders are an exception) the real question is how much occupational and social impact are taking place. If it is bad enough to get admitted and cause you to miss work or lose relationships it is likely a higher percentage
It’s kind of archaic but it’s because personality disorders are viewed a “your fault” because of your decisions and upbringing etcWhy are they an exception? Thank you for the response
Yes im hospitalized right now we are just a military unit so we get our phones at times. My symptoms didn’t start until I was assaulted physically and SAd so I will really make sure to emphasize that thank you! It’s kind of archaic but it’s because personality disorders are viewed a “your fault” because of your decisions and upbringing etc
Honestly borderline is way bad and gets people hospitalized, it’s sad they don’t count it as a diagnosis.
Your best bet is to make sure to emphasize the trauma and how these symptoms were not present prior to the trauma or were significantly worsened. The trauma will get you VA benefits, the borderline will just get you separated
No. It may be a misdiagnosis. There is a lot of research tying BPD symptoms to PTSD from sexual assault. BPD by definition manifests earlier in life. BPD, like all PDs is not service connected because they occur before mil service. BPD is over diagnosed in females.Thank you, do you think borderline could be secondary to my MST/Physical assault?
