Hey Ron,

Can you please compute the estimated CRSC approval for 70% and just a round about number for back pay for 22mths (I understand the adjustments for cola Ect just a figure...I am thinking around 34-35g)

Medically Retied CW2 16yrs 2mths Active Duty
DOD-70%
VA waiver- $3437
Married 2 Dependents

CRSS Approved for 70%

August 24- Emailed CRSC application to HRC

September 10- Approvals Letter uploaded to HRC, verified on phone with DFAS that they also received approval letter

Still waiting for 1st payment, I assume it will be paid EOM Nov 1st

Will keep updating once I receive 1st payment and Backpay

Hello,

You did not provide your high three average base pay OR better...the gross retired pay on your DFAS RAS. Also, I assume the “2 dependents” are two children under 18. You also did not provide your VA compensation rate. The VA waiver you cited could be the gross amount of retired pay, and the VA comp could be more.

Using the current base pay which is not your high three...

1. (5,381.10 x 0.70) = 3766.77 retired pay. I am going to make a guess here and assume 3437 (your figure) is the actual gross retired pay. If so, (3437/0.70) = 4910 high three

2. (16.17 AD x 0.025) = 40.43% longevity multiplier

3. (4910 x 0.4043) = 1985.11 longevity portion of retired pay

4. CRSC 70% with spouse & 2 children under 18: (1,609.71 + 59) = 1668.71

5. Your CRSC using imprecise data and inferences is 1668.71

Retroactive entitlement: I don’t compute retro CRSC, not even my own. However, if you wanted a general idea of what you might receive, you could multiply the number of retroactive months times the amount at item 5 (and that amount is likely inaccurate for the reasons I have mentioned).

Good luck,
Ron

Thanks Ron!!

Hey Ron,

These documents were attached to the upload of approval letter in HRC. I believe it’s a breakdown for DFAS, but not sure.

Hey Ron,

Could be...I have never seen what HRC sends to DFAS, although I know it must include certain dates; Rank/grade; years of AD; etc.

It reminds me of the DFAS audit documents. They were not designed for an easy read by the retiree. The HRC document contains some mysterious (to me) data as well.

If you would like for me to recompute your CRSC estimate I would be glad to do so based on info you directly furnish (i.e., not the attachments above, my 74 year old eyes have difficulty reading that material).

Hello,

This was the previous estimate from last Wednesday
:

New estimate, 6 October 2019:

Data you furnished today:
Married with 2 children under 18
Medically retired DOD 70%
VA 100%. Waived retired pay.
Receive 3437.00 monthly from VA
High 3- 4834.22
Active Duty- 16yrs 2mths CW2
Approved CRSC 70%

ESTIMATE:
a. (4834.22 x 0.70) = 3383.95 retired pay; this is reduced to zero by the amount of VA compensation, 3437; no residual retired pay.
b. (16.17 AD x 0.025) = 40.43% longevity multiplier
c. (4834.22 x 0.4043) = 1954.48 longevity portion of retired pay
d. CRSC 70% with spouse & 2 children under 18: (1,609.71 + 59) = 1668.71
e. Your CRSC is the same as in the first computation = 1668.71 based on the information you provided.
