"Fit" for duty, dealing w/HYT

Hey everyone-

Curious if anyone knows the TDRL manual # or MILPERSMAN that manages TDRL? I just got "fit" for duty (which, I'm totally excited about) and now need to know if this temporary retirement puts me over my HYT for re-enlisting. If you know, let me know, but if you have a TDRL manual #, better yet. Thanks,

What service? Rank? DOR?

SECNAVINST 1850.4E (I am assuming Navy since you referenced MILPERSMAN).

Hi,

Thanks for responding.

I'm an E-5 in the Navy. My Detailer is going to find out Tues if being on TDRL counts toward your active duty time. I had 14 y 7 m going on TDRL. DOR, about 7 yrs before I went on TDRL.

I went on TDRL 3 Jul 2007. Got all ready, did the therapy constantly, worked on my back, nearly 100% recovered, a couple little aches here and there that probably won't go away, but I'm ready for duty. Got approved by TDRL in Oct 2009. Took 2 months to finally talk to a recruiter who knew how to work w/a TDRL candidate coming back in. Then just got this word about HYT affecting those on TDRL. The main question is:

does being on the Temporary Retirement List (being retired temporarily) count towards your active duty service time?

Hey Jason-

I'm pretty familiar with the MEB and PEB process(es). I'm really needing to know if time spent on temporary retirement (TDRL) counts towards active duty status (ADSD). That's my question. And Happy belated Birthday and thanks for all the work you do here. I'm new, but really glad I found your site!

TDRL time counts towards service time for pay puposes only. In other words- if you are an E-5 and go on TDRL at your 10 year mark, and end up returning to duty two years later, you will be paid as an E-5 with 12 years time in service. It doesn't count towards active duty time served for retirement purposes, or high tenure (I assume).
