Has anything changed over the past few years?

Hello everyone.
About 10 years ago I suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during my PT test in the Air National Guard. I applied and for a full 100% VA disability P&T. I was medically boarded and got out. I had a total of 21.5 years of service and around 7 of those years were Active Duty. I was a full time technician at the base also (16 years).
So I currently get 100% VA pay and the 60/40 technician disability pay. SSDI was denied and I never applied again. Did anything change with getting my military retirement pension or do I still need to wait to around the age of 60? I have a friend telling me I should be eligible for CRDP, but I’m not sure how that all works?
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Chris

On the surface to me, It appears you must wait til you are age eligible, I think it is 60, for your guard pension, to the get cdrp then.

I am assuming you did not medically retire and took a regular guard retirement 10 years ago.

That is helpful to know, I still think you must wait until 60, to be eligible for your cdrp. This is just my opinion. Now, if you have CRSC things, that maybe different and potentially entitle you to pay now,

Maybe Ron or others, can give a clearer or better response.

Hello @Cbirdman247

1. CRDP for a non-regular retirement (i.e., reserve/NG) is not available until the retiree meets the age requirement AND
--has applied for and had an approval for a reserve/NG retirement. The application can be submitted about a year out AND
--has a 50% or more VA rating for disabilities AND
--has 20 Good Years (associated with the first item on this list)

2. CRSC requires
--a VA rating of 10% or more that has been approved by the applicable service for CRSC
--be in a retired status and have agreed to waive retired pay dollar for dollar in the amount of VA comp received.
--Note: There is NO age requirement.
