They hadn't received it because the file was bigger than 3 MB.
Are these people kidding with this BS?
Well that stinks, I am sorry.
Advise Just snail mail. Without pki encryption or some other encryption scheme it’s not really secure. Your packet likely has PII and therefore is CUI and should be protected. I spoke with a CRSC customer service about a “secure means” to send it in and couldn’t really land on a solution.
My advice, just snail mail. It’s about $10 priority mail. They received my packet and the next day I got the email confirmation of receipt.
I didn’t want to email because you are transmitting sensitive personal and medical information that should be encrypted and there really isn’t a viable means to do such outside the DOD and CRSC mailbox. I even asked about PKI exchange, DOD safe. Encrypted zip files. Encrypted PDFs.
Again just mail it. Will add at most 5 days . Mine took about 4 counting the email confirmation. I understand printing may be a challenge. Get with a VSO. The VSOs should help with a CRSC claim. Could also use one of those shipping places that does printing.
Yes it would be easier for everyone if like the VA they had an electronic form. Took the VA forever to get that going. They just started a few years ago allowing BVA appeals to be submitted electronically. They could easily setup a secure online form and attachment option, but that would take capital investments the services likely don’t have interest in. Even though such would result in long term savings not having a staff have to open mail, scan in documents, whatever other administrative functions, saving of few hundred thousand a year that would pay for the online platform. etcetera etcetera.
Sorry I have an extensive IT background. Know how these things work, and know how archaic the DOD can be with their IT systems and lack of investment.
