Medboard Timeline (Walter Reed)

Did you receive your VA proposed ratings before you got back your DOD decision/ratings?
I wasn't supposed to, but yes. My claim closed on the 28th of May, and soon after that I called until one person was unaware enough to just straight up send me the proposals (I just requested to be sent the files attached to my claim. If they began reading a script I'd just hang up).

All mine says is step 5 of 5 “decision letter ready” but of course when I click on it nothing appears because it’s probably waiting on the DOD’s IDES portion to produce their ratings.
You should call the 1000 number and keep calling until one of them emails you the results. Should ease your anxiety.

Keep in mind there was another sailor on here that did the same, got his ratings, but was found fit. His case was super unusual though... I'm keeping an eye on his case because it's very weird. His medboard came from higher and was triggered by an order rather than a doctor.

Oh wow lol that is weird, ok. I'm gonna try your method for 3 days and see if that works lmao wish me luck!

Yea so I just called a few times and spoke to 3 different people. My claim is on the last stage which is stage 5 of 5 like I said. They’re saying my claim isn’t closed yet. Once it’s closed I’ll go ahead and call back in and see if I can get a different answer.

My case was submitted to IPEB August 9th. I’m hoping the case will get to the VA or be there now. I keep seeing everyone saying check the VA tracker. When I login to VA.gov under “

Check your claim, decision review, or appeal status”

I just see

You do not have any submitted claims

This page shows only completed claim applications.

Is this the correct place to look?

Im like many a long time lurker but hoping my case will be close to this since @jsaint05 was submitted on the 7th fingers crossed haha. But we all know how the Navy is!

Yea I’m thinking we’ll hear something back for our cases at the beginning or middle of October

I hope so! Sounds like yours is moving through VA already. Is the location I’m looking correct? Im not seeing anything so I’m not sure if maybe it hasn’t hit them yet at all being a few days behind you maybe this week it will. Then I’ve seen average is like a month for VA

Download the VA App is a lot easier to navigate than on a computer. After you’ve downloaded the VA app click on the “Benefits” tab then click “claims”. From there you’ll be able to see what active or closed claims you have. From what I’ve been told on this thread if your claim is closed then you should have a shot at calling the VA’s 1000 number and asking to have your proposed ratings emailed to you. I haven’t had any luck at it myself, I’m going to try again tomorrow.

Great thank you I just logged in and it’s not showing anything under active or closed so must not be to them yet!

Can everybody see their claim under the active tab? I can’t, I thought that was normal

Just got off the phone with Jeff, says my case is currently in the QA phase and will more than likely move to next stage (Fit/Unfit) status by end of next week!

It is normal up to a point. Where are you at with your case again?

His timelines are very accurate in my experience. Good luck.

Yea, it was a little relieving to hear him say that, he’s definitely a cheat code to figure out where your case is besides just getting the basic answer “still pending” form my PEBLO

my package was accepted July 26 and the PEB decided fit or unfit August 14th, just waiting on the VA

I called the VA today because I couldn’t see anything in my claims and they said that they see all the claimed conditions but we’re waiting on the PEBLO?…. Does this mean it hasn’t been sent over to them from PEB? I’m going to reach out to Jeff this afternoon. Last time I tried calling over a week ago he said they hadn’t even started working on August yet but again seeing @jsaint05 getting moved forward maybe they finally are getting to mine!

I got ahold of Jeff and he told me if it was submitted in early August they really haven’t started working on them yet and to give them a few more weeks.

Mine was submitted to PEB July 11th and Jeff said they sent it to the VA for ratings on August 13th. Claim is still open and don’t know if I was found fit or unfit yet. So yours should be sent to VA within the next week or two if I had to guess

Pretty weird that the PEB outpaced the VA but not impossible. Did you have any deferred conditions? Should reach out to your contractor (VES, QTC, etc.) and see what's up if it's held up on their end or if the contractor already pushed all the exams forward.

I spoke to the VA again today and they said my case is now showing “Ready for Decision” she said that there is 2 parts in that phase where first a supervisor reviews the decision and then second the decision letter is drafted. Does anyone have experience on how long this has been taking recently? I still have nothing showing in my VA app.
