Medical vs regular retirement

This forum is awesome! I’ve found a lot of great info but I’m still confused.

30 TIS USAR with 5844 points base pay 10384, VA payment is 1999

Now in MEB due to MH issue while on 90 day orders. Currently 90% VA (50% depression/anxiety). My questions are:

1. Since I was on orders when MH issues were exacerbated, will this result in immediate medical retirement payment or payment at retirement age?

2. With retirement age 6 years away, should retire medical or regular?

3. Will I have an option to choose regular if my DoD rating is low?

4. Do I qualify for Crdp or Csrc? (I believe anxiety is combat related)

Thanks for your help!

1. If LOD. If referred to IDES for duty related condition it will be immediate retirement. They should keep you on orders while going through IDES. Make sure to choose IDES and not LDES. LDES is the old system and PEBLOs will say to do that because you already have a VA rating but that is very poor choice with way less protections. Getting new C&P exams rarely ends up with a lower % and if so you can appeal it in the process. LDES process doesn't bound the PEB to rate the condition what the VA does.

2. If rated 30% or higher you will be medically retired. If rated under 30% for unfitting condition you will apply for retirement at qualifying retirement age of 60 or less with reductions from deployments.

3. You get the higher of the 2 if medically retired. So if your points are higher than your DOD % you get the points for basing your retirement. In this case if you are NOT on the blended retirement and get 2.5% per year your longevity is 40.6%. If you are rated 30% you are medically retired but receive 40.6% since your longevity is higher.

4. You will get CRDP at non retirement age. CRSC for 50% is less compensation than CRDP at 90%. CRDP is automatic and you will get it right away. CRSC you need to apply but in your case may not be worth it to apply.

Any difference between permanent and stable and permanent and total (I'm assuming this is 100%) from the VA

I have 30 years of service but I believe you are referring to my points as 15 years correct? It is LOD referred and immediate retirement is what I want. How did you come up with longevity percentage?

What’s non retirement age? Are you referring to now when process complete? Immediate retirement?

Reread my comments. I edited them because i missed the 30 years TIS. Also, non regular retirement is a guard or reserve retirement.
