Mental Health Code 31

I was recently DQ’d from a deployment this past July due to MH issues. I was put on code 31 profile in July and it expires in November. I have been seeing Mental Health since July and have been put on numerous SSRI’s with no luck. I have clearly stated to my PCM as well as my MH therapist that I do not think my MH issues will resolve while being in the Military even though I am proactive in seeking help and going to appointments. I can go on and explain the reasonings for that (step father recently died, sexual harassment at work, toxic work environment, anxiety attacks, major depression, social anxiety). I asked to be considered for a MEB and while my MH therapist agrees with me, my PCM is hesitant and wants to try an “extended” period of time to try and fix the issues.

How long will I be on code 31 before it switches to code 37?

I am afraid that I will be stuck in this medical limbo for awhile and my mental health will worsen.

i have been on a code 31 for over 10 years. a 31 is just an assignment limiting code stating that you can only go to certain bases that have the appropriate medical care available. you will not switch to a 37 unless they initiate an MEB.

Do you know at what point the PCM will initiate a MEB based on someone who has Major Depressive Disorder and General Anxiety Disorder? Or is it more of a case by case basis?

it is case by case depending on how you respond to treatment. your mental health provider has the authority to start an MEB without the approval from your PCM as they are the physician treating the issue.

Got it. Thank you for the response.
