I know the majority here always say IDES. However I want to give some of my situation and see what you guys think.
Conditions: Persistent depressive disorder, General anxiety disorder, chronic back pain (spinal compression, bulged discs, with left leg sciatica) sustained at work with mishap report filed
My current timeline is
Late March: IRILO/Code 37 Approved
April 25: Code 37 Flipped (they forgot?) and MH NARSUM complete
April 29: Physical NARSUM and CIS(do not retain) complete.
May 2: Submitted to AFPC.
So my situation, I am active duty living 1 1/2 hours from base (moved there for a medical issue with my spouse) so I commute 3 hours a day which is horrible on my back, the pain is making my mental health spiral. My natural contract ends Oct 2 2022, so I would most likely have to extend if I choose IDES. I also start college full time in August so I will be getting G.I Bill and FAFSA.
I really just want to be done ASAP..I am thinking LDES because I have a VA hospital and facilities 20 mins from my house, money will be tight but I can manage with G.I Bill/FAFSA and my wife's income for now.
The only worry I have is the rating.. but I am more than sure DOD will put me at or over 30%. I haven't been deployable since Afghanistan in 2020, I also haven't had a full PT test in 2+ years and was moved off flight line work to an admin role due to my back injury.
