Oh wow. My DOS is May 2023. I am really hoping I can get this process started and get a medical extension before I end up having to extend/reenlist myself. My Meb started back in Jan 22. They are really dragging it
yea your pcm starts it. once its started you can't stop it unless you have a separation date. Being diagnosed with narcolepsy should be an automatic MEB. whats taking long is they wanted me to do another sleep study with I did and now they want me to do another one at an mtf. so PCM starts it then they reach out to leadership for cc impact statement and the pcm writes narsum aka narrative summary on your condition. then the dawg who recommends return to duty or full meb. then appts start at the va and all thatOh wow. Do you know what has taken the process so long for you? I am not sure how the process works but I know the PCM initiates a MEB and then from there DAWG, PEBLO, and AFPC have something to do with the process but unsure of the order or how it all works.
Oh ok thanks for the info. Yeah whoever told you to get another sleep study done should have told you MTF. But having two positives is good at least. I have heard the false positive for this test is pretty high. I get doing another one sucks and is pointless but at the end of the day you gotta play the stupid games. I was upset when I was told that as well. Lucky for me I am stationed at Fort Meade, MD so I have two of the few MTF sleep clinics right next to me. Thats my arguement they shouldve sent to the mtf if they were testing for narcolepsy instead of a civilian dr. Im in Delaware so its walter reed in dc or writt patt in ohio i can go toOh ok thanks for the info. Yeah whoever told you to get another sleep study done should have told you MTF. If it is up to you, I would try to make an appointment at Fort Belvoir. They were able to get my initial appointment with them in less than a month when Walter Reed was over 2 months out. Once you have your initial, if it goes the same was as me, you just let them know you basically just need to retake the MSLT with actigraph but then let them know you want to schedule it with whoever is sooner, WR or Belvoir. At that point you have at minimum 2 weeks out to wait since you have to wear the watch. Also, if you are taking any meds like anti depressants or medicine for narcolepsy they are gonna want you to stop taking it for 2 weeks before the test as well. Thats honestly what I would do on Tuesday and just get that ball rolling. If your PCM ends up sending the package off and AFPC accepts it then you can always cancel the MTF stuff and no harm. But its better to start that now than to wait cause it is so far out.Thats my arguement they shouldve sent to the mtf if they were testing for narcolepsy instead of a civilian dr. I am not sure. I read the report that they wrote up about it. Basically said that I need to setup a better sleep schedule because I have a 1-2 hour variance on the weekends.. Which I feel like is normal because people sleep in and stay up later. Thanks, I will see what I can do tomorrow. I appreciate the advice. is the actigraphy watch accurate?
so what happens if your test doesn't replicate your civilian msltI am not sure. I read the report that they wrote up about it. Not sure. I would say it is still up to the sleep dr to decide. My guess is they could still diagnosis based on previous and symptoms and such. The actigraph watch is only used to see if I am getting enough sleep.so what happens if your test doesn't replicate your civilian mslt
ok, hopefully your result are loaded and they make the decision to initiate the MEBNot sure. I would say it is still up to the sleep dr to decide. My guess is they could still diagnosis based on previous and symptoms and such. The actigraph watch is only used to see if I am getting enough sleep.
I contacted WR and asked how long it takes for MSLT results to come back and she told me 2 months. LOL I then called Fort Belvoir and they said 2-3 weeks but could be sooner. I think the first lady thought how long are the appointments are out. But tomorrow will be 1 week since test so hopefully I am lucky and get them this week.ok, hopefully your result are loaded and they make the decision to initiate the MEB
I'm waiting on a call back from my PCM to see the next course of action because this is just ridiculous... probably nerve-wracking waiting on your resultsI contacted WR and asked how long it takes for MSLT results to come back and she told me 2 months. Yeah its a lot. Trying to keep my mind off of it as much as possible. Lucky for me I have like 2 weeks of use/lose so burning it now so I can just game all day to burn days away.I'm waiting on a call back from my PCM to see the next course of action because this is just ridiculous... probably nerve-wracking waiting on your results
Because they’re idiots. I had 10+ surgeons who said the same thing about my medical condition. Highly trained, highly competent, renowned civilian surgeons, some of whom went to freaking Harvard, for Christ sake, all saying the same thing. But no, according to the military, the one dumbass military surgeon who wasn’t even board certified was the one who was apparently correct about my medical condition, even though he was dead wrong. Welcome to military medicine!I asked why I have to do one at a MTF instead and they said it was because they do things differently and it is up to the DR to determine whether or not it is considered Narcolepsy.
Then you’re fucked. No, seriously. The military wouldn’t let me have surgery because of one dumb idiot military surgeon. Despite 10+ civilian surgeons all saying I need surgery. That’s how dumb the military is.so what happens if your test doesn't replicate your civilian mslt
SMH the military is backwards sometimes i swear. why use civilian Dr if they wont accept there diagnosis? Then you’re fucked. No, seriously.
