Im about 2 and a half years into the air force, All started in December of 2021 I started passing out randomly after a hard fall after months and months of testing and doctors I found out have Addison's disease, Orthostatic Hypotension disorder, and a couple of other things resulting in me passing out over 20 times a day. Along with finding out I have so so much more wrong with me like stomach diseases and migraine problems along with mental health problems. They started my medical separation around May of 2022, after all of the PEBLO meetings and VA appointments they gave me my first rating in February 2023 which was DOD 20% with VA 80%, we turned that down as i really needed the health insurance since the medications alone that i take are very expensive, I got with an attorney and they pushed all of my medical documentation and Doctors suggestions to the formal board. Yesterday, April 2023 i got my final rating of 20% DoD and 100% Va. Im super stressed as to whats gonna happen next as far as medical insurance wise as i see many specialists to to all my different conditions and im worried that i might not get the medical help i need. Do i have to start look for medical insurance on my own? or does the VA have free health care for me? keep in mind with my medical situation having a job is almost impossible for me to do as i pass out constantly so im very afraid i might not be able to pay for health insurance along with all my other bills. No one around me seems to know anything about what to do in my situation and im just lost on whats gonna happen as i transition. Im mostly really wanting to find answers about health insurance and what might come next. Thanks so much for reading and possibly giving some answers.

It appears you are eligible for health care from the VA.

From the VA:

Am I eligible for VA health care benefits?

You may be eligible for VA health care benefits if you served in the active military, naval, or air service and didn’t receive a dishonorable discharge.

If you enlisted after September 7, 1980, or entered active duty after October 16, 1981

You must have served 24 continuous months or the full period for which you were called to active duty, unless any of the descriptions below are true for you.
This minimum duty requirement may not apply if any of these are true:
  • You were discharged for a disability that was caused—or made worse—by your active-duty service, or
  • You were discharged for a hardship or “early out,” or
  • You served prior to September 7, 1980

If you’re a current or former member of the Reserves or National Guard

You must have been called to active duty by a federal order and completed the full period for which you were called or ordered to active duty. If you had or have active-duty status for training purposes only, you don’t qualify for VA health care.

If you served in certain locations and time periods during the Vietnam War era

You’re eligible for VA health care.

Tricare is better and my wife has a lot of health issues. However, currently she has all of her healthcare through the VA and there is zero out of pocket costs. She sees lots of specialists and most are referred out to private sector but the VA foots the bill and all of her medications are free through the VA. Her medication costs out of pocket if she didn't have Tricare or VA healthcare would be thousands a month.

I would not worry too much about those things if they are service connected.

ironically after making this post my attorney called me and said that the IPEB messed up my paperwork and that i ended up with 100% DOD and 100% VA so now i have to make a choice on health care so now im unsure which would be better?

I use TRICARE FOR LIFE, MEDICARE, and occasionally the VA. I am not a disability retiree, but I recommend you keep both the TRICARE and VA updated for eligibility.
