USMC TIMELINE

Finally, I have some good news. I spoke with my attorney today and got my proposed ratings from the VA. I was told we are waiting on the PEB process and it is still backed up.

I’m at 104 days since PEB acceptance.

I hope everyone else is doing okay.

If you're sitting at 104 you need to try getting your Leadership involved with calling WWB. As long as there isn't anything abnormal going on with your case you should be advocating for the PEB to stick to their timelines and your command should be advocating with you. They should be getting briefed the status of your board during FPCs and assist in pressuring whoever your case is stuck with. I know that the PEB is short staffed and didn't turn over their positions properly but that shouldn't be at your expense.

That's assuming you have a command that cares about their Marines/Sailors
Trust me I am also very pessimistic about commands caring but you also can't discount them all. What else can you do? PEBLO's get 5,000 emails a day from LCpl Shmucitelli that they respond to with dumbass responses like "I'll tell you when I know" but I guarantee they'll think of a better response for your CO or other senior leadership.

Thanks, Garibay. I'll do what I can. I am also reserved on a command(s) advocating-but, it's worth a shot.

WWBN will not accept you based solely on your PEB status. They are in fact less likely to accept you if on a Med Board. I would still try, it is always worth a shot. WWBN is great and the diamond in the rough of the USMC for sure, but all they really care about is "Can your command meet all your needs as a wounded Marine?" The referral process will need to start with your command, ask your 1StSgt about it and he should be able to print off paperwork for you to fill out nd he will send it to them. The acceptance process takes around a month, and the WWBN will put you on their own board to determine if you are fit to be in the battalion. By the time he gets accepted he will be getting his findings and out the door though. Also, WWBN Marines do not have special MED boards of privileges. I started my med board in October of 2020 and am still here, sent my board to the PEB June 30th.

I didn't mean to try and get moved to WWBN it was more of getting their command to reach out to WWBN and light a fire under the PEBLOs (who fall under WWBN) ass to get their marine or sailor better information on their status. Because at least in my case my PEBLO gives 0 fucks until someone else gets involved. I tried filling out an ICE complaint but WWBN has opted to not put their services on the ICE website. So the only way to get onto them or hold them accountable is to get commands involved which is what I was trying to say.

Here is what my PEBLO told me today:

"Per the PEB report sent today there are 2994 cases in the Medical officer que.

When I sort the report from largest to smallest in the Medical Officer que your name is 2451 of 2994.

Of those 2994 cases WRNMMC has 91 still pending action by the PEB.

Your case is # 36 with 88 days at the PEB.

The oldest case pending action from WRNMMC is 130 days. That case was picked up by the PEB on 02APR21 and that case is still in the Medical Officer que.

Yes it is a correct Assumption that the PEB work on a first in first out process.

I hope this helps with understanding the back log currently at the PEB."

Mine has been waiting at the PEB since 3 May. Tomorrow will make it 100 days for me. PEBLO told me today that I should hear back from them in 2 weeks because they did their mid summer PCS for their personnel and it slowed everything down.

Wow I wish my PEBLO gave me stuff like this. Mine hardly answers the phone or responds to emails even though she's teleworking. And when she does I get maybe 1-4 word responses or she'll just ignore whole questions within my emails.

I’d love to know what questions you asked to get such a thorough response! I can only ever get a “nothing yet…click.” Lol so maybe I’m asking the wrong questions

I've been getting very short responses from my PEBLO since mid-June. But I send the same email with the same questions 2 or 3 times a week and this week I started CCing his boss so I guess that's why I finally got a more detailed response.

I've been sending my PEBLO the same questions since mid June. Today is the first time I received a response beyond "no change" or "still with the medical officer"

Here is what I have been sending my PEBLO:

"I know things are backed up but I've been in the medical officer's queue since mid June. Are they still working cases that were sent to the PEB in April? Are the submission dates for cases currently being worked getting closer to late April or early May for when they were sent to the PEB?

It would be really helpful to get an update with more details than "no movement" or "still with the medical officer"

Do we know where I fall in the medical officer queue? As in, case xx of yy or there are x number of cases ahead of mine that must be addressed by the medical officer before they can take action on mine.

Is it a correct assumption to think that cases are worked on a first in, first out process?"

He didn't answer all of my questions but the response I received was miles better than what he's given in the past.

It doesn’t matter WWBN or not we are all in the waiting list. Idk if you remember going into the gas chamber in boot camp. It really didn’t matter where you were at in line you eventually would make it. Wait, do they still do the “confidence chamber” it has been a long time. Lol

Correction to my previous comment on how many days my case has been at the PEB it’s 112 days currently.

Also, I was told in order to help speed up the back log of cases built up. They skipped some checkpoints and sent the cases over to Rhode Island for the PEB and that’s why some of us are getting our ratings in the mail. The Transition office in Balboa can’t help us at the moment due to all the info still being with the PEB. They can’t tell us anything in detail about our ratings until the PEB process is complete, sends back our cases and we get that phone call.

Interesting that you were told PEB cases were sent to Rhode Island. All Navy and Marine Corps PEB cases are processed through the PEB at the Naval Yard in Washington, DC. This is the only command that processes Navy and USMC cases.

Maybe it’s due to the back log of cases. More information to give to the right guy to ask the right questions?

i signed my papers and within 3 days they came back with my New EAS which gave me 30 days
Congratulations on getting your findings! So you signed for your findings and 3 days later you got your new EAS? & your new EAS has you getting out of the military in 30 days?
