PEB accepted my findings on April 27th but the package was sent up on like the 7th so hopefully I’m not too far behind you. Im already really impatient with this whole process as it is.
You should be hearing back very soonPEB accepted my findings on April 27th but the package was sent up on like the 7th so hopefully I’m not too far behind you. Im already really impatient with this whole process as it is.
I feel your frustration, mine was submitted 8 Apr and just had to sign a 6 month extension today. Was also told I should have been out by now, makes me want to pull my damn hair out.I’m starting to get extremely frustrated with this entire process. My package was accepted by the PEB April 16th, my MEBLO told me to expect to EAS in July and I haven’t even gotten results back yet. I may lose out on a very good job opportunity because of their lack of ability to do their job. This is ridiculous I don’t see how HQMC has not gotten involved in this yet.
what does waive PEB findings mean? ThanksEntered IDES process in August 2020. Wasn't scheduled for exams until Feb/March 2021. NARSUM came back mid April. Requested an Independent Provider Review and submitted an appeal. MEB rebutted my appeal on 7 May and the MEB submitted everything to the PEB on 14 May. Received an MOL notification that my case had been accepted by the PEB on 11 June but I'm not sure what the significance of this message is in regards to a timeline. Still haven't heard anything from the PEB but the VA has already come back with their proposed rating. Hoping to hear something from the PEB soon.
Side note, are any of you over 15 years in service? If yes, are you aware that, if found unfit, you can waive the PEB findings and request to retire under TERA? This allows you to receive a pension and VA benefits.
Defense Finance and Accounting Service > RetiredMilitary > disability > crdp
"Concurrent Retirement and Disability Pay (CRDP) allows military retirees to receive both military retired pay and Veterans Affairs (VA) compensation."
"you are retired under Temporary Early Retirement Act (TERA) and have a VA disability rating of 50 percent or greater."
MARINE CORPS TEMPORARY EARLY RETIREMENT AUTHORITY PROGRAM
This MARADMIN is currently active
"This authority extends through 31 December 2025 unless sooner rescinded."
"2.a. TERA in conjunction with waiving Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) findings. Marines being considered for disability separation or retirement must complete the PEB process with a finding of “unfit”, have more than 15 but less than 20 years active service, and be willing to waive the PEB findings in order to apply for TERA. Marines approved for early retirement in these cases must have a retirement date that occurs within the timeframe that a disability separation or retirement is expected to occur. Marines disapproved for TERA in conjunction with PEB findings will be required to execute their disability separation as directed by the PEB."
If the PEB finds you unfit they will recommend medical separation or medical retirement based on the disability rating for your referred condition(s). A referred condition is the condition(s) the MEB referred to the PEB for a fitness determination.what does waive PEB findings mean? Thanks
Made a type. high three for TERA calculation example should read $3,783.50. Calculations are correct, my fat fingers hit the wrong key.If the PEB finds you unfit they will recommend medical separation or medical retirement based on the disability rating for your referred condition(s). A referred condition is the condition(s) the MEB referred to the PEB for a fitness determination.
If the PEB finds you unfit and the rating for your referred condition(s) is less than 30% then you will be medically separated. In this scenario you are entitled to disability severance pay. Here is the DFAS link for how disability severance pay is calculated. <Defense Finance and Accounting Service > RetiredMilitary > plan > separation payments > disability severance pay>
If the PEB finds you unfit and the rating for your referred condition(s) is 30% or higher then you will be medically retired. In this scenario you are entitled to disability retirement. Here is the DFAS link for details on disability retirement pay calculations. <Defense Finance and Accounting Service > RetiredMilitary > disability > disability>
Waiving the PEB findings means you would not appeal the unfit finding but would not accept medical separation or medical retirement because you are requesting early retirement instead. The service will process the request for early retirement and if approved assign a retirement date. If your request is denied then you would be required to execute the medical separation or retirement pursuant to the the findings of the PEB.
Waiving the PEB findings and requesting TERA is potentially more financially beneficial to the service member. However, this depends on your disability rating. Taking TERA makes you eligible for concurrent disability and retirement pay (CRDP) If your VA disability rating is 50% or higher. This means you would get your pension from the service and your VA disability benefit.
DoDI 1332.46 section 4 outlines how pensions are calculated for service members retiring through TERA <https://www.esd.whs.mil/Portals/54/Documents/DD/issuances/dodi/133246p.pdf?ver=2018-12-21-122012-280>
The example calculation in DoDI 1332.46 shows that an E-7 with 15 years 7 months and a high three of $4,783.50 in service would receive a monthly pension of $1407. Additionally, in this scenario the E-7 is eligible for TERA if their VA rating is 50% or higher. A veteran with a 50% disability rating and no dependents would receive a monthly benefit of $905.04. Combined, the service member would receive 2312.04 per month.
Table of VA disability rates <2021 Veterans disability compensation rates | | Veterans Affairs>
Calculating disability retirement pay can be done two ways. <Disability Retirement> They use the method that is most beneficial to the service member when calculating disability retirement pay
base pay x (years of service x 2.5%)
or
base pay x service disability percentage
Using the same example for the E-7 taking TERA (15 years 7 months and high three of $3783.50) and the first method of calculating disability retirement you get $1,473.67. However, in this scenario, the E-7 is not eligible for concurrent disability and retirement pay (CRDP)
Using the same example for the E-7 taking TERA (high three of $3783.50) and the second method of calculating disability retirement with a 50% rating you get $1,891.75. However, in this scenario, the E-7 is not eligible for concurrent disability and retirement pay (CRDP)
Both of these are higher than TERA but neither is eligible for concurrent receipt. Everyone's situation is different so I recommend doing the math to see if TERA is the best option for you. TERA on it's own may be less than your disability retirement but TERA and VA benefits may be significantly higher depending on your individual circumstance.
Are you still waiting?I sent my paperwork march 11th, it was accepted april 8th and posted on MOL. I am stillllllll waiting

Transistion PTAD is 20 days and is given to Marines that are retiring or involuntarily separated. You would be entitled to the 20 days PTAD if you were medically separated as well.Hey yall don't forget if you're RETIRED, you rate house hunting PTAD.
