I feel like I already know the answer to this but want to confirm because I feel like a fellow soldier told me wrong. I am going through the IDES/MEB/PEB process currently. I filed my letter with intent to file a claim with the VA in June of 2018 but just now starting the VA Disability claim as of April 2019. That's almost a year of knowing I was going to file, however, I have been on active duty orders for that entire duration. I just want to confirm that I will not receive back pay from the VA for the year that I intended to file because I was already being paid by the Army simultaneously, correct? That would be "double-dipping" if they were to pay me. My colleague advise me that I would receive back pay regardless since I initiated my intent to file a while ago, but I know that can't be right. Can someone settle this for us, please and thank you?
