VA requested addition C&P Exams after my package was sent to DC and VA. Good or Bad?

My package was all signed off an sent to PEB back in August and my peblo said i was found UNFIT mid September. Since then I have been waiting for my ratings from the VA, but today I got a email stating I have another C&P Exam for my refereed condition. When I called they told me it was an Independent Medical Opinion (IMO). Is this typically good or bad? Does anyone have any details about this? And how long could this add on to my whole process?

Thanks!

It's important to understand that the DoD works off of VA proposals to grant you a DoD percentage. Your ACTUAL, payable VA rating won't be finalized until some time post service. My process, your process, anyone's process in the VA from proposals to final ratings will vary.

Your proposals probably won't render until this exam is finished and the paperwork is filed with the VA presuming it's done through a contractor. As far as delays go that will be the only one that will probably be applicable to you.

FWIW, all evidence generated by exams are good evidence. I had an ACE exam post unfit determination, didn't really do much but reverse a previous diagnosis that would have resulted in pyramiding (examiner determined insomnia to be service connected, different one determined CFS. CFS examiner retracted their diagnosis in ACE exam) and overall it didn't change my rating. While it might seem like it's bad that I lost a rating, it's good because it closes gaps for the VA to come back and issue a CUE.

No idea how long your process will be, but just sit tight, you're on your way out!

Usually IMOs are requested by the SM for their issue. Did you request someone else to look at your disability/problem?
