I have been going through the IDES process since February, and, luckily, my process has been incredibly smooth. I am being medically retired, and received a retirement date for the beginning of July.
Unfortunately, my command is not happy about this, and my BN XO is determined to change it via MMSR-4 to maintain continuity in my current role through the summer. From my understanding, there is nothing they can do to influence this, but I’m concerned nonetheless. I’ve made it very clear I want to execute May current retirement date but he’s convinced they’re doing a disservice to me by moving the process so quickly. I already have transition PTAD approved in MOL and am beginning the job search.
Do I have anything to be worried about, or is this just a field grade who’s way out of his depth trying to impact my retirement?
